Longtubes and Secondairy Air Injection (GEN 2)

I modified some long tubes for my gen 1, but i have since bought a 97 LSC and those things have that secondairy air injection. The long tubes i have dont have the privisions for the A.I.R. hookups. Can i ditch the secondairy air injection system? are there any drawbacks, and how can i do it without throwing codes and having the CE light come on?

The stainless lines that connect to the manifolds Y into a rubber tube in front of the engine. Remove the stainless tubes but leave everything else. That should allow you to run without a code. If it does throw a code, you'll need to have a custom chip burnt, which is a good idea after the headers anyway. Good luck.

have a chip burnt to shut it off.

i put on headers before i had it shut off. As long as i left the pump plugged in it didn't throw a code. If i unplugged it, it threw a code. It's loud, though, and annoying for 30 seconds when you start up the car. It's a lot louder when it isn't hooked up through the exhaust.

Alright, thanks guys, thats what i'm gonna do when i put them on. i'll be gettin a tune after putting the s/c on, so i'll have it removed then.

I wouldn't bother hooking it up to the headers. Get rid of all that crap, just leave the electrical connecter plugged into the pump or it'll throw a code until you get a tune.
