Your set-up looks great! My biggest problem with widescreen was selecting the correct format e.g. theater 1, 2, 3, or full. When watching the news, it would cut-off the ticker tape on the bottom of the screen. It was like a view trade - width for height, and I had to fuss too much switching screens all the time. I agree though, widescreen is here to stay.

When I watch SD shows it has black bars on the sides to keep the 4:3 aspect ratio. I have the option of stretching or zooming the image but it never looks right.

I don't have a Wega, but I did buy a Sony rear projection wide screen a couple years back. Best in picture quality for similar sets as far as I was concerned.

RE: New TV

My dad's TV has a "theater" feature (or something like that) where it stretches parts of the screen more than other parts to make a normal feed fit a widescreen. It works very well. If you look at the ticker tape, it looks like there's a corner in the middle of the screen that the tape is wrapping around. Talking heads look normal in the middle of the screen, arguing heads look fat because they're on the edge where it's stretched more. The only time you can tell it's wierd (other than the news... and if that's all you watch WTF are you buying an HDTV for) is if people are moving from one side of the screen to the other.

RE: New TV

commiecast has a monopoly in my area. so i'm getting raked over the coals. I threatened to cancel and managed to get my bill for internet and cable with one HD box and zero pay channels down to $100 for the next 6 months, then it's back up to $135.
