No sound At all!!!

Here's the history.

After putting my sub into my car I've had difficulties powering the system. After a month I got a message saying check charging system and a battery light. I changed the Alt. and that seemed to clear up the problem for the first couple days but within a week I kept getting a battery light on my dash. In addition to the battery light the windows began going up and down slowly.

I thought the problem was the wire coming from the alt. to the battery.

My reasoning behind this is that the battery before replacing the alt. held a charge of 11.5v while the car was running. Once I changed the alt. that reading went up to 12. I quessed the battery was OK.

3 days ago my sub started going out when I was at low RPM. IF I came to a stop sign the sub would cut out and then as I sped up the sub would come back to life. Just today I ran a 5gage wire from the alt. directly to the battery. Now no audio at all happens. Both the sub and the speakers give no sound. I've checked everything I can think of. I took the new 5 gage wire back off and tried again but still no audio. Drove it around the block and nothing still. I'm worried.

Any ideas?

RE: No sound At all!!!

get rid of that little jumper wire. Get a new battery, or 2 while you're at it. And get a good size capacitor so you dont fry the batts too!

RE: No sound At all!!!

I would say all the jamming killed the alt. Whenever you replace an alt you must recharge the battery (Autozone does it free). If not you will killed the new alt very quickly.

You are losing sound because your amps have undervoltage proctection, if they don't see enough voltage they shut down.

I think you might need a new alt (or a rebuild whatver fits your budget, just make sure it's quality) and recharge the battery or buy a new one. Just make sure the battery is fully charge before putting on the new alt. If you want to upgrade the wiring, use 4 guage all the way around.

RE: No sound At all!!!

Its a brand new alt. so It's under warrenty.

Yea, the extra wire I put in there is of no use. If the wire which was on the car first was not working it would have melted. I didnt even think of that.

I guess I'll charge the battrey overnight and then buy a new battery if the charging doesnt work.

Ohh and yea, I'll take that damn wire off. ;)
