What is this noise?

I heard this the other day in the CE when going through a narrow city street when I put the windows down. It sounds 'metallic' but in a tin can kind of way. I don't know exactly when it started and it doesn't seem to be making noise all the time. I can't really hear it in the passenger cabin with the windows up.
I don't think it's getting worse, if anything it seems to be going away. I 'think' I heard it some yesterday, but I haven't heard it at all today?
There are no codes (although I did get a TPS code today). The car seems to drive just fine.
