Pioneer head unit compatible with Ford 10-disc ?

The car in question is my 94 Mark VIII with JBL, and trunk mounted 10-disc changer. I own a Pioneer single disc in-dash head unit(a pretty good one with the organic graphics and all) from another car. It is still in the box. I called my local stereo shop and asked if they had a wiring adapter for Ford/Lincoln JBL Premium sound to Pioneer unit to replace my factory head unit. Yes, they said, and its $20.00. When I got there to buy the wiring adapter, I realized I had failed to tell them about the 10-disc "factory" CD changer. They said it wont work/not compatible. The factory 10-disc is not a Pioneer, and he checked his catalog to see if an adaptor was available for that. Nope, he said. The Pioneer head unit is compatible with the factory JBL, but wont power the 10-disc in the trunk. I have no problems with my factory set up, I just wanted to use my Pioneer from a previous vehicle for upgrades in the future. I would rather have 10 disc capability than 1 in dash though.

My question: Is he right? Its not that I dont trust the "pro's", but I am almost sure some of you have done an aftermarket head unit with single disc in-dash capability, without losing/replacing your factory(prob. a Sony/Kenwood) 10-disc capability. Anyone?

Check on Crutchfield.com. I found an adapter to let me run an aftermarket CD player with the stock system for my BMW, maybe there is something that goes the other way??

thanks kev. Apparently there is NO set up to run a Pioneer head unit that will accept our Ford/Sony 10-disc. So, my options are, buy a Pioneer 10-disc, Sony head unit, or leave it stock if I want a 10 disc. I'll spend my money on Subs instead. Thanks
