Remember when?

RE: Remember when?

I remember some of those. Not all. But I do remember how odd I thought it was that one of my friends had a Mom who worked and wasn't home when she got home from school.

RE: Remember when?

I remember a lot of those things, but I think I was at the end of that era.

My father had a party line at his summer home until a few years ago. In the 1970's there were occaisionally other people on the line, but by the 1980's there was only my father and his brother on the party line. the line was disconnected each winter. A few years when my father asked for it to be reconnected in the Spring, there was no one in the phone company who knew how to reinstate the party line.

It was funny using a party line. Each time you made a long distance phone call, the operator would ask what nymber you were calling from. I always wondered what would happen if I gave the wrong number.

RE: Remember when?

When being sent to the principal's office was nothing
compared to the fate that awaited the student at home?
Basically we were in fear for our lives,
but it wasn't because of drive-by shootings, drugs, gangs, etc.

That sounds allllllllllllll too familiar.
