Sound cutting out

Road Warrior

Registered
'95 - VIII with the stock JBL system. Doesn't exactly "cut out," more like sound dips, usually when I hit a hard bump, but sometimes for no discernible reason.

I just purchased the Delphi XM unit to add, and feel like now would be the time to fix that aggravation. Don't really know where to start, though. Loose ground wire? Short in the head unit?

Anyone else have this problem and/or can suggest a fix, I would be in your debt.

Thanks in advance!

RE: Sound cutting out

Well I hope I fixed the cutting out problem, but it wasn't cheap. The guys at the sound shop says they get this problem in ford explorers also.It is the amp,and when you bypass this amp you lose all of your bass.So you must install an amp and sub woofer to compensate. They explained that the factory system was made to work as a system and when you remove part of that system it"don't work so good no more".Hope this gives you a heads-up before you go to the store. This would be a good time to upgrade your system.Good Luck!!!
