This is one quirky car

I haven't seen this one before. Opened the car door yesterday and without any key in the ignition and the igition off, the radio was playing and the message center was working. Got in, closed the door and then opened the door and they do not turn off. I turned the radio off and closed the door, hoping it would fix itself (the weather here has been very rainy and I'm hoping the humidity is the cause). Looked at it today, still on. Has this happened to anybody else and what did you do?

RE: This is one quirky car

They're supposed to stay on when you turn the car off until you open the door. It sounds like whatever switch senses the door might have gotten wet, like you suggested. I'd give it a few days. (Does the WD40 trick apply to this?)

This depends on what year Mark. Second gen and maybe the 96 do this.
What year is your Mark? (not mentioned in your profile)

RE: This is one quirky car

Maybe the accessories staying on until the door is opened deal started in the '95 cars. My 95 does it but not the 94.

On Mine, (95) the radio stays on when the key is turned off, until the door is opened, or about 10 minutes if the key is off but the door is not opened. I think the interior lights work the same way, but not sure. I've never turned the interior lights on before turning the key off.http://www.venturalink.net/~rlking/smiley-no.gif

It's a '96.

Now, it is no longer on without the key, but it is back to doing what it did a couple of weeks ago. The timer is not working and it shuts off immediately.

Like I said, this is one quirky car!

Sounds like your car is totaled. I'll give you $200 for it, sight unseen. I'll even come by to pick it up!

I can only respond by quoting the great Curly Howard (of the practice of Dr. Moe, Dr. Larry and Dr. Curly)

"Hmm, a wise guy!"
