well the hood is nearly finished, i covered it in some black base paint yesterday just cause it looked horrible with white paint and primer sprayed on it. but now i can move to the rest of the car and work on other things.

Looks pretty good already! If you don't mind me asking, did you need a cowl hood for clearance or are you going for looks? What kind of paint did you use and how did you apply it?

BTW, I like the body colored front trim. Did you do that at the same time? What did you do to prep the chrome?

Sorry 'bout all the questions, I can't help myself, I really like it. Thanks in advance.

Looks good, liking the blacked out look.

I'd imagine as long as the chrome was smooth and had no flaws, he could have just sanded it with 600 grit and sprayed base over that. If he primed would have been a lower grit, something like 150-240.

the chrome was sanded with 220 and primed with etching primer for raw metal. then sprayed with black base, but will be resprayed and clear coated once i get ready to paint the whole car. as far as the hood goes, it now resides in the dumpster at my shop. the more i looked at it, the more i didnt like it, i just cant seem to bring myself to like a mark VIII that has been modified body wise. the hood had a bubble in the nose of it this morning and i think its because i got water in between the scoop and the hood yesterday and didnt have any holes on the bottom side yet and the water screwed up the scoop so i got pissed and through the whole damn hood in the trash, no more for me, from now on its leave it as it came, sand it and repaint it, screw this custom crap trying to alter the body and what not, everyone thinks im nuts for throwing it away but i could care less, its only money and time. i just move on! at least i had a really nice black hood to replace it with, so thats whats on it again, and honestly i like it much better.

Haha, lol well still looks good. I think if the corners on that cowl hadnt been as sharp, then it might have flowed a little better with the rest of the car.

I'd like to see you try a bubble style hood, or a contoured bulge as to clear a centrifical super charger. A bump on center line could also be useful for a twin screw also as the real interference point is at the snout.

I had a bubble style on my 68 Mustang SCJ, a couple of the Z28's I owned also had some bulges in their hoods to clear some stuff and for asthetics also.

Keep trying Jamie, we need to see some new stuff here.
