what to get?

im looking into getting an exhaust. i was unsure of which cats can be romoved? <--state laws dont effect me. i wanted something pretty mellow but have a nice rumble when accelerating. im some what on a slimmer cost budget but want to explore my options.i was thinking of stock headers x pipe to 2 in 2 out muffler to true dual..? what do u think?

Any good high quality glass pack should work OK. Pro max? It's gonna drone like no body's business, though.

Gut the cats and leave the stock headers. Get

• 2-1/2" dual pipes
• 2 in 2 out muffler
• 2-1/2" plain tails at rear

That's probably the cheapest. You can add mufflers of choice later if you wish.

Nothing a set of mufflers couldn't handle if it would be too loud for your taste.

for best power, go with aftermarket headers. Then go with a dual in, dual out muffler with an x-pipe built in, and two decent mufflers at the end. Try to situate the dual in, dual out muffler so you can add another behind it if you find it too loud.

My '97 had that arrangement, except, of course, if any authorities read this, it had cats (wink, wink).

If you want to keep cats in there, they will keep it significantly quieter also. Even a set of high-flow cats should reduce sound somewhat.
