Blew my engine, (hydrolocked)

WTF!! Are you SERIOUS!? This guy is an idiot.

...but at this point, he should be buying you an engine.

I would have to agree, the guy listened to him because "he's got a shop" and supposedly knows what he's doing.

This guys bad information IS the sole cause you need an engine right now.

Had you towed the car to an experienced mechanic you would be out 150ish towing and 100ish dollars to pull the plugs and get the water out.
250.00 tops....including towing.

now.. you need an engine and install.

Dang...that J guy is a jerk! :)

Sorry about that! You're already in a bind so I didn't need to kick you while you were down....I'll kick your friend for you though! :D

I may be wrong but in my opinion once that water is sucked into an engine turning over at 800+ rpm's it pretty much doesn't matter what you do, it's too late.

Not really, I know of a couple flooded out vehicles that survived crossing high water. Once was an early model Powerstroke I had. You have to not try to start it once it has ingested water until you pull the plugs and roll the engine over to expel the water. With the diesel we removed the glow plugs. It was fine for another 75K miles.

well I don't think he is going to buy me my next engine so I guess I am SOL for now, but thanks guys

I see what you're trying to say....water sucked into an engine thats RUNNING...right? Its definitally BAD and usually catastrophic, expecially if the car stalls or you ram it into park. But like JP said...if the car happends to find a lake when its NOT running, you just have to pull the plugs.

I always wondered what "J" stood for!

ROFL! I noticed there was NO smiley at the end...so you must be serious. :)

You're never SOL when you have us around....just ask for help and we'll be here.

its too late now though, someone send me a free engine, lol. I need help. Hey did you see we got a raise, the city finally settled the contract. I'm sure I wont see it for a month though

Sweet! I'm still taking rocks from all the other state workers who aren't exempt (including my dad).

ok, I have gotten somewhere with the highway department and my local legislator helping me out to get some sort of resolve. Does anyone on Long Island do engine rebuilds or swaps with a bonafide shop? I need two estimates, I will get one from my friend but I'd rather someone here do the actual work if it gets approved. Then there will be no issues with me and my friend, lol.

rebuild isn't the best way to fix it...I'd go for an engine replacement.

not many people or shops have the knowledge or ability to rebuild these engines.

Ok I need help, my engine resource fell through twice. does anyone have a 97 lsc, or compatible engine for sale for a low price for a poor guy on LI? Thanks

i have one i thought about parting out just because i have been getting alot of requests for certain parts off one. but it runs great, i just drove the car home yesterday. the car is already 80% stripped but i can still start it. its got 120k on it but like i said, i drove it home 30 miles with no problems at all. the only problem is i am here, and you are there!! want to drive to florida with a truck, i'll give you a hell of a deal $450 bucks complete.
