Blew my engine, (hydrolocked)

If you really want You can get a good price on the rebuild if the engine is already out of the car. Most people just don't want to pull it out. Then no problems for long time ;)

I have an engine in my 97 LSC im in MASS. southwest corner where CT, NY and MA meet. let me know if you still need one?

Does removing the silencer actually give you a little power like it used to do in the old 5.0's? Do you turn up the timing too? I can't believe that old school mods like that might actually still work?!?!?!?!?

i didn't notice any change in performance, and no I didn't turn up the timing

The timing is controlled by the PCM, you can't turn it "up" manually. You can buy a "timing adjuster" from Steeda but I don't recommend it.

Correct, the money you spend on the timing adjuster is far too much money for the 1 to 2 to maybe 3 degree's of timing that the mark 8 will tolerate when added in a global manner as the steeda timing adjuster does.

The only benefit to adding a timing adjuster is that it moves the CPS to a place that is far easier to change than when it's in the stock location.

and it adds a little "dress up" to your engine bay, IF that is one of your priorities.
It wont add any performance, and if you try to chunk 3-5 degree's at the car it's gonna detonate/ping.

I just want to get an engine, not so much tweak one but thanks for the info

starting the replacment of my engine today, I can't wait to get this back on the road. I am talking with Jeremy on the phone now, hopefully he has all the pointers I need.

anything I should think about changing besides the oil filter, while I have it out of the car? I got an engine for $800 with 78k miles on it.

Thats a good price! When I did my swap, twice, I just made sure I installed all my old sensors/waterpump/power steering/etc. because I KNEW they all worked right. I've run into problems swapping engines straight across and then the car wouldn't start. Turns out something on the engine I got was bad.

Good point.
