Well, peeps, we haven't gotten together in a long time.

JP is going to be racing at Route 66 in the brackets on July 18 and 19 I believe. See link for info.

So I can't quite tell how it works, and I've never been to that track. I don't know if we'd want to participate, or just go and watch JP race. Anyone else interested?

We should take this opportunity to get together in some way/shape or form. No details have been worked out yet, but who wants to get together? Anyone want us to host a BBQ at our house sometime that week / weekend? Anyone from out of town need my help in finding places to stay? Anyone want to camp in my backyard again? (Though I'll tell ya, the mosquito's in the area are 5 x worse than they were last year, per some study done - and they come out at around 3 PM).

Please post up if you are interested. Those of us on the northside who aren't racing could always carpool down to Joliet if we're just spectating. And who knows, would a trip to the riverboat casino work for anyone? I think Mrs. Driller would especially enjoy that.

Post up on your thoughts and availability for that week/weekend! I still have some Yuengling beer left!

Let's show the Drillers how we like to party and greet our guests in Chicago!

EDIT: Anyone coming without a car to race but want to race? I'm dying to know what my car can do, and there is a T&T on Tuesday the 15th at Rte. 66. Or we can always check and see what's going on at Greatlakes.

This event rivals the discontinued WFC series. It is the known as the 3rd Annual Motive Gear NMRA/NMCA Super Bowl of Street Legal Drag Racing III. More info can be found at http://www.nmradigital.com/events/event4.php

If you plan on racing, I've been told you need to be a NMRA member.

The event will be from the 17th to the 20th - I plan to attend the 18th-20th, Friday through Sunday. From what I can gather they have trial runs available Friday for the bracket racers and a "Dial in for Dollars" competition. Brackets will also be run Saturday and Sunday in 3 separate classes.

Come and wish me luck! :D

I might be able to make it on the weekend.

I'd have to drive there after work Friday so it would be late when I arrive at Trixies Campground.:D

Bill, that'd be awesome! We'd love to have you, you know! Just bring lots of mosquito repellant. ;)

Oh, and Bill, that would be "Trixie's Bar and Campground".

Kinda like the "Trixie's Bar and Garage"

We may be able to come Saturday, just to spectate . . . will have to see how the next couple weeks go.

Oh man. I would absoutely love to go, but it is the same weekend as an event from another board ive already committed to. That really bums me out.

That's cool Chris. I learned a long time ago I can't go to every event/meet. Have a great weekend! :)

Besides the race weekend at Route 66, it looks like I'll be at Trixie's Bar and Campground the Monday prior and likely again Thursday on my way back through to Joliet.

Like the announcer says... "Let's get 'er on!" :D

Yep, although details have yet to be exactly arranged, meet and greets or whatever can take place that week too if the Drillers are up for it. I'm still "retired" so people just have to let me know what works for them.

Remember, Trixie's Bar and Garage is almost always open. :) And the Mustang's done!

Update...

I sent an email to the NMRA crew inquiring on what days the brackets would be time trials and eliminations. Turns out they will not have brackets during this event!

Now I'm left contemplating entering the True Street class. Pretty much a trophy class for modified street legal cars after a 30 mile street parade. The kicker for me is they run that class on a 0.400 Pro tree.

You run 3 times and the average of your 3 runs determines your place on a indexed class ( i.e. 9.0, 10.0, 11.0, 12.0, 13.0, 14.0, 15.0). Now I have to figure out the combo during time trials to run a low 14 in competition.

Any thoughts?

What are you consistently running JP?

More updates: Mark Darrah will be here on Monday and I just got a PM from Strapp who's back in a Lincoln! (an LS).

Last time out...

13.906
13.890
13.918
13.903
13.856

...and that was with density altitude at over 3000 feet - and possibly with a sticking caliper!

Today's weather in Joliet showed about the same density altitude.

Add to that, Route 66 is supposedly one of the fastest tracks.

Today's weather was bad, next week should be better, so that might make it worse for you. I didn't realize Joliet was a fast track. Well, we can always T&T at Greatlakes prior hee hee.

What about keeping your stock tires on there to race? Can you change the air pressure in the tires enough to compensate and get to the 14's? Add some weight in the trunk perhaps? I think you're going to have to try different options to see which puts you at the right times. But you should be able to add only a couple tenths, and keep it consistent, IMO.

So any ideas on what you want to do Monday? Sight-see? Just hang out and relax? I'm really looking forward to this. Manny said he's going to see if he can come out sometime.

LastMark - if you read this let us know if you want to hang out with us on Monday. Volo Auto Museum could be a possibility.

The weather is a big wild card. DOT tires are required, but I don't know if the DOT rated Hoosiers are acceptable. I have a set of Mickey Thompson ET Street Drag Radials I can bring and they are DOT tires.

Once in competition after the street parade, there are very strict rules - no air to be added, only let air out, hood closed, etc... but yes weight and tire pressure can be adjusted. Maybe just run the street tires? Don't forget, I also have different tunes to play with on the chip. So, I think it can be done, I just need to be able to find the right strategy that be used to knock a tenth or two off with predictable results.

I don't have any definite plans for anything on Monday yet.
