Ok, for me the...
What is that?
I'm just kiddin ya BadSax. I fear the day this happens to me. I'm ready to hit ebay already because of this thread.
My neon is already strangely unlit
and I think the front air struts and for sure the rear shock mounts are toast. Who knows how much longer my HIDs are going to last since they are EBAY specials. But, it shouldn't be too surprising I guess. Luxury costs money, and after 100K miles, be ready for the nickel&diming to begin. And I literally mean, be ready. That is the problem with Mark VIII owners who quickly begin to grow a grudge against these cars including the ones who don't take advantage of the 21st century concept of automotive forums!. Airbag suspension for example. Big whoop! Aftermarket replacements or even factory replacements can be had for well under the cost of a dealer replacement or even that of a local mechanic if you have a little bit of willingness to learn. I'm sure most of us can use a wrench or quickly learn.
I am doing a water pump on my freshly-bought 89' Town Car, but I can guarantee there is nothing "fresh" about it once you pop the hood and prop it up with a broomstick!
While I was under the hood of this thing this week, I had a little bit of "me" time as I was watching rusty-ass bolts soak in PB Blaster, and I thought to myself "if I can accomplish this task, I think I can do just about anything". Most of us have not let our Mark VIII succumb to the horrors that my Town Car endured for many years until I saved its poor soul, especially if you are a privileged "southerner"
. Whether it be a disgruntled Mark VIII owner or not, I can bet that most of them took good care of them up until the time they decided to either "grow a grudge", or "grow a set of balls". Any Mark VIII owner that falls into the first category outta be just plain ashamed of themselves, especially if they have a computer, which I would assume 99.9% of people have these days. There was a guy on youtube who was going to literally ditch his Mark VIII because one of his HIDs went out on him. He said it's a good car, great gas mileage, great features, great performance, BUT.......! But what?! I thought. So I believe he came into contact with our own DLF and is now a happy camper all over again. It's really not as bad as one may think. That's the only reasoning I can have in my brain as an owner of this wonderful masterpiece.
