Exhaust Manifolds for performance.

I would like to know what cast iron exhaust manifolds will work the best for performance in the Lincoln. I see a lot of new Shelby cobra manifolds for sale...ya know off the 5.4 DOHC... Any input? id like to get a complete performance exhaust on this summer. 1993 mk8 Thanks
 
The best for a fairly stock Mark would be 03/04 Cobra manifolds. Cheap to get and they bolt right on. They will not include AIR but will have an EGR port. No cats either.
 
Who cares about cats!

Actually the only cat that will be a problem would be the driver's side. The passenger side will bolt up. The driver's side would need a cut and flange added.

Kook headers are over-priced and pointless unless ya got an Eaton! Not to mention you would have the same cat problem, actually worse.
 
My point being is that they don't directly bolt up. :D

How do you know he doesn't have an Eaton? :)

Oh...ok. I don't get it, you mean a four letter name?
 
I was wondering if you ran Cobra manifolds, would a stock or aftermarket Cobra X/H pipe fit?

It seems to Lonnie was forced to run a stock Cobra H pipe setup on his car to pass inspection. I wonder what kind of fitment issues there are?
 
It won't "bolt" up because the cobra H doesn't fit between our body/transmission. Our chassis is shaped different.
 
On any header you install, you'll have to "modify" the egr tube to make it work, or just delete the EGR all together. At that point you'll have to get a tune to turn of the EGR in the ECU.

does anyone actually have pictures of the 03/04 cobra manis installed? i have a set in my garage, but i would like to see what the clearences are before i tear into it.
 
Here are pictures of it installed on the Cobra motor.....not sure if it will help. You MAY run into issues with the steering shaft, Jeremi could tell you for sure.

ewww j has the cheap pos thin bosh o2's lol. come on j with all the money in your car you could at least spring for the motor craft version lol.
