Exhaust Manifolds for performance.

is that the programmer that keeps the CEL off?

I don't honestly know.

The car had the chip before the last round of mods. Basically, it had the stock manifolds removed including the cats. They were replaced with a set of Cobra manifolds and new downpipes were fitted to join with the existing 2-1/2" cat-back exhaust. The EGR was also deleted. The rear O2s were simply left off.

I was warned it may throw a CEL but it never has.

The Gen I's didn't throw a code by removing the rear cats.... only the Gen II's did. UNLESS you had them programed out with the SCT chip.

Correcto mongo.....keep forgetting that....but it remains the same....without the chip canceling out the CEL, with the 96-97-98's you'll get the CEL.

Once you get your PRP open.
Type in your PCM code
Then go to "File" then "load all values"..then browse to the value files folder and get the SCT 93 octane mark 8 file..

By default the canned SCT file shuts off.. or DID shut off the rear 02's.
I think that is now changed..but the old value files did.

So if your tune was or began life as a SCT value file, it's likely they were left off..or weren't looked at in the tune.. because the canned file, turns em off.. or used to.

Sounds logical, I'll have to check it out.

The 'compare tunes' option will be interesting. ;)

I'll have to research all these some day once I've finally got my Mark again. I'm feeling, shall we say, "ambitious." :D

so im thinking of getting some BBK headers and running the double x pipe to polished chrome mufflers from LMS and the y tips, in doing all of this, i also need to change my steering shaft for pipe clearance?
dear God, make me rich, Amen

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry9700/5.0.0.296 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102 UP.Link/6.3.1.20.0)

Good luck getting those BBK headers to fit.

JP, are there a particular set that are known to actually fit around the steering shaft AND flow well? (Which are on the Blue Flamer?)

Kooks long tube and JBA shorty headers...but any header upgrade typically needs the steering joint upgrade.

No, the Flaming River joint is a solid metal piece. I don't have any heat shielding on either car.

can you send a link for the Flaming River joints?

I sell complete stainless steel kits HERE.

You can, of course, make your own, but then you have to buy at least 18" of the DD bar, do the machining and source the A4 stainless steel button head bolt.

Flaming River also sells a mild steel version for less $, but I wouldn't use it.

Well i decided to bag the manifolds for many reasons. Over the past year i set up a "kooks header fund" and saved up enough for them. I hope I didn’t get myself into trouble with this dropping the k member/engine stuff. Is there any complete write ups out there of a install?
