Indiana Route 135 was a lot nicer "ride" than I-65, but just before hitting Circle City, we were back on the big road. ;)

We had turned off I65 onto 30th street heading towards the Speedway and somehow made a wrong turn and were just about to turn around when things went terribly wrong and ended up calling AAA and a taxi. A nice city policeman hung around while we waited for the tow truck and taxi. Amazingly, they showed up within 2 minutes of each other.

The wrecker actually beat the cab to the hotel!!!!

The taxi driver was the worst and the tow truck driver was the best. :)

Hey JP.. I'm off on Friday.. Let me know if you need help. I can drive down there.

Thanks for the offer Dean.

So... after a night's sleep and some breakfast, it was off to get a rental car.

As hard as I could try, they would not give me a Town Car for a one-way to Morgantown, so I got the Gran Marquis. :)

I decided to have a look under the hood of the '96.

Hmmm... it don't look so well.

It seems to have bled some from the injury.

It didn't take long to find an open wound hidden under the beauty cover. :frown:

I've got some duct tape but I think the oil will prevent it from sticking properly. Besides, I'm sure there's something worse hiding under the valve cover.

Off to get the trailer and get some windshield time to ponder what to do!

I've got to get a winch or come-a-long to get the car up on the trailer when I get back. I've always wanted a winch for the trailer anyways. Sam's is next door, I wonder if they have one?

Meanwhile, the girls will be occupied by the pool, a nice room and possibly a casino.

i have a motor and tranny on a pallet ready to do, with or with out headers :)

i am not sure how you broke that thing, speculation timing tension went bad chain let loose and hit the valve cover?

next option is alien's tore a hole in the space time continuum to try and suck the car in to a black hole but the car was fast enough to get away.

:( either way it sucks i am sorry every time break down in Miami it is so hot that the wait for a tow truck seems like a million years.

I'm so sorry to see this JP.:(

I thought I had some bad luck with my Marks recently, but it's nothing compared to what you've had to go through.

Wow, JP, that's too bad, sorry to see that.

Donna said after Carlilse that she liked the white one better than the blue one 'cause there wasn't as much rust, and she's sad that you broke it. :(

There wasn't as much rust? There isn't ANY rust. The underside of the white one is a jewel compared to the Blue Flame!

I appreciate everyone's condolences. It's a good thing this is just a hobby. :D

Now the question is - how much damage to expect? Anyone care to conjecture?

wow that sucks man. i wonder if a rocker fell off right behind the timing gear and maybe got snagged by the gear and whipped into the valve cover. or you said it felt like it was on 4 cylinders, i wonder if the end of the cam shaft snapped off and the cam gear tore the cover, either way, the pics are great, and you'll get it fixed shouldnt be too bad for you to repair. good luck.

I believe that maybe the damage is worse you know.....you should buy my 97 or my spare 03 cobra motor :) just to be safe of course.....

I feel your pain JP, I wonder if there is any codes that may be stored on the car's computer to help give you a clue as to what happened.

BTW, I know a nice Imola Ice 95 LSC with a brand new Teksid block sitting in CT... :p
