iPad - got one yet?

I confess, I had an impulsive moment today and picked one up at the local BestBuy.

This is the first Apple product I have ever bought. I must say, for what it is, I am impressed. What sold me was the incredible screen and the overall feel of quality.

Video and pics are are very impressive, much better than the Acer net book I have at home. This will make a perfect travel companion for email and web surfing.

I've only begun to explore the full capabilities and have just looked around at apps and picked up the Numbers app and a couple free ones.

So, who else has the iPad? Share your thoughts and tell me your favorite apps! :)
 
Whoa I am shocked since you didn't use the Iphone.

I think I will sell the kindle and pick one of these bad boys up.
 
my 12 year old son is buying one very soon, lol. I have an I touch and I love it so I can imagine that this is as nice!

I thought about picking one up to sell on ebay, but they were only going for about $100 over sticker...

They look very cool, and if I didn't have my MacBook, I'd probably own one. when the 3G or 4G one comes out, if the thing can make phone calls I think I'm in. Have it within 30ft and making bluetooth calls... that would be cool... :D

It just reminds me of a large format itouch. And as I already have an Itouch no thanks. Now if you look at something like the Archos 7 it is cheaper with more storage which is also ablle to be expanded with an sd card. The Archos also has a gps available as well as running linux as well as the android os.

I did say this was an impulse purchase! I did not do ANY homework. Totally unlike me! :D
 
I've been using Macs since 1984 so I'm a diehard Apple fan but no thanks, not yet for me. It's just an information retrieval device and not really a laptop so it can't do as much as my MacBook can do now. BUT... wait and see, very soon there will be a touchscreen Mac laptop. When that happens then I'll consider one.

I want it to be a phone...

a bluetooth headset, and it's not like you'll be holding the thing to the side of your head...

although let's be honest here, I would be one of those people who would just holds it to the side of my head... :D

One of the things I love about my iphone is just plugging it into BadSaxillac and using the speakerphone... which I'm sure makes me look like I'm talking to myself to other drivers...

OMG - whatever you do, don't get the 64GB version. It has been over 2 hours trying to sync the 16GB model after I selected music and pics to load it up!
 
I think most of the 2 hrs was "optimizing" 14GB of pics to 5GB for the iPad. :p

Previous sync time was minutes even with a couple GB of music. We'll see what subsequent sync times are.

Joe, I've heard there is a Skype app for the thing despite there being no webcam. ;)
 
Relax about the synch times, ,ost likeley a first time synch has a ton of stuff to do like housekeeping, memory allocation, loading all that data, etc. Once done your synch times will be much faster because only new and changed items will be transfered. iPhones work the same way. Just have a little patience.
