Its too bad global warming isnt coming faster.

If you are taking the risk because you can't afford to lose, you have been coerced into doing something. The threat of this imaginary place scares you so you do as you're told. I do the same because it makes life a hell of a lot easier for me and/or its the right thing to do to procure the life style I want.

What about the few folks like myself who have seen and spoken with God face-to-face? He either exists or I'm a lunatic, right?

Disagree

Just the latter.

You invited it by prompting me with a question.

I know it was a trick question, but you could have avoided it.

In any case, judging others is fairly innappropriate, no matter what religion, or lack thereof, they are.

By the way, if you have any friends or relatives that are Christian, you just implied that you feel they are all lunatics as well (Matt. 12:50). Is that something you openly express to them?

In any event, I wasn't serious, I don't care what you do. And I don't mean that in "I think this of you but don't care". I mean I really don't care. An opinion about your sanity never formed, I simply saw an opportunity for a joke. You prompted a question with a pretty good idea knowing what was coming and I didn't disappoint.

Although for what ts worth now I think you are trying to be quick witted and failing, whatever that implies to you. :D

It's implication is obvious...you either misunderstood what I was saying, or the description of my failure is a thinly veiled attempt to sound objective while at the same time making a personal statement.

A similar statement someone could make about you would be, "...you are a very talented communicator - you should have been a lawyer..."

I am sincerely joking (no pun intended) on that last statement.

I know in the past you have refused to answer perfectly good questions, but I'll ask again anyway.

What is your opinion regarding any friends or family that you have that are Christian, and do you openly express those opinions to those people face-to-face?

Btw, avoiding this question is an answer in itself.

I already told you, I don't care. My personal belief on the subject is that religion is their choice of opiates. Something to help them get buy, justify, provide some sort of guidance, whatever they use it for. Everyone has one they use, (Mine is just constantly reassuring myself that my life is going to be awesome as long as I keep working towards it. This works better for me than believing something else is going to help me in a time of need.) As long as it is constructive its good that they have it. If someone asks I make that clear that I think thats all it is. If someone even begins to preach to me I ask them to stop and if they don't I say it. I make it very clear to anyone who bothers to inquire, but it will never get mentioned if you don't bring it up.

I have said pretty much all of this before. Some of it word for word. If you are looking for one word answers, the best I can do for you is 1) IDC and 2) Yes.

I can't imagine I can be any clearer.

My problem arises when people use what they "believe" to tell me how to live or society how to act, or to pass laws enforcing how they picture the world.

A common example is to tell me I shouldn't have premarital sex with someone I am in love with and use protection with when its the choice between me and her and not my parents, or anyone else for that matter.

Another is to tell me I shouldn't be a Bank of America customer because they allow illegal immigrants to have bank accounts, and if I am its somehow against god and country. (You know who you are.)

When people damage their quality of lives (or the lives of their loved ones who aren't old enough to make the choice) over it is the only example where I would probably make an opinion. (Like being against surgery, blood transfusions, organ donation, inoculations, etc.) Or they try to tell me/others how to live.

Do you see the issue I am having?

Ah, I misunderstood you...my apologies.

Just to confirm though, you tell your loved ones that the God they worship is merely a figment of their imagination that they use as a crutch to get though life?

I think most folks would be very hurt if they heard that coming from a loved one.

Sounds like you have issues with authority, both societal and spiritual.

You may very well be a model of society on your own volition, but I submit you are a very small minority.

Most civilizations crumble without rule of law based upon nothing more than the core beliefs of the leadership. History is replete with examples.

I agree wholeheartedly with everything you said. If its constructive its fine. But that doesn't change what it is. It just makes it good that its around for those who need it.

logres- My family get-togethers are awesome. Bastard coated bastards with bastard fillings. I love my family. They couldn't give a **** less what someone else thinks of the way they live and think for the most part. (Except my mom unfortunately for her.)
