LOD Apparel

I was in a car club here in Lincoln years ago and set up a buy of jackets from Sears, and logos from a local company. That way we had control of it all.

Yes, that is the original logo of some of the stuff that I have...

does anyone have that as a jpg or pdf file?

BTW Mike, your big ass trophy's are blocking the logo on your jacket... :p

Just because I think it's worth asking, how do we feel about possibly updated logos?

A friend of mine threw these together last night because she was sick at home and bored... :D Anyway, it's similar to the original...

This is really picky -- something about the way the lower case L runs into the N in this font bothers me, although I love the F in "Of".

Well, she's a professional, I'm sure she can make the "l" not curve at the bottom... :D

this is this artwork in my biz cards... it originally was a picture of my sax next to a brick wall, and the my friend got a hold of it... :D

that is just a few clicks in photoshop :fart

Keep in mind some shops may have an issue with reproducing any protected trade marks including the Lincoln star, any brand name and font without paying royalties or licensing fees. The club logo we used years ago was approved by Ford for a non-profit car club use. I know people get away with it every day, but just something to keep in mind.

I'm pretty sure it was a little more complicated then that...

Anyway, as far as I am concerned, we have rights to the Lincoln Star.

Do we have that in writing somewhere?

Well if you think applying a filter is complicated :D

We had rights to use the star as it was in the clubs logo.

You're just a hater... :p

that probably was the last step, but I know prior to that the picture looked like it was on fire, all the colors had been stripped to only oranges and yellows. I wish I could find the original and then the proofs... oh well...

Anyway, are you saying are use of the star was only for the two logos, the MARK VIII like Mike's jacket, and the LOD banners?

Yes, what was approved was the clubs logo shown in the detail and only club members could get merchandise with it. We could not sell it to outsiders. Ford does not want anyone making money off their trademarks unless they get a cut.

I believe as long as it has "Lincolns Of Distinction" with it like the club logo is it was ok to use. And i assume you meant star :fart
The art you posted has the "Lincolns Of Distinction" but to some shops that may not make a difference.
I may have a scanned copy of the letter on my home computer, i will have to look tonight.

So do we not have the right to use the start for this logo?

yes, yes... "star"... :p

Anyway, that was what I thought also, that as long as we had the club name, we had the right to use the Lincoln Star...

Anyway, I'm not real worried about having a copyright issue, but it's good to know where we stand.

Please refer to the following guidelines when using Ford Motor Company trademarks to support an enthusiast club.

• Name Ford Motor Company should not be used in any form - it is reserved only for company use.

• Ford Motor Company trademarks may be used by non-profit enthusiast clubs as long as they are used in conjunction with club logos.

• Ford script or Ford script-in-oval may be used in club name where it is needed to add clarification to the club, i.e. the "Ford" V8 club or the "Ford" Model T club is acceptable, while the "Ford" Mustang club is not. (Mustang is recognizable on its own).

• Clubs must be non-profit and in good standing with Ford Motor Company, i.e. must not do anything detrimental to Ford Motor Company.

• Club's logo should be prominent to the Ford Motor Company Trademark it uses.

• Clubs may develop and sell apparel or other promotional items to its members only, on a limited basis and without royalty to Ford Motor Company as long as the intent is to promote the club whose name must be prominently displayed on the items.

Please submit any designs to us for approval first to save any trouble. Thank you!

So the original place we had stuff made is going to do an archive search for our patterns... :D

So, they were only able to find one pattern... :(

The one that is similar to our banner they can't find.

But I did get a copy of the one they have. :D
