Not Blowing Much

So I've had blower issues with my car and overheating. Hubby asked me to post, although he's the one who's been taking care of this so I'm not positive what's been done.

I do believe the dealer flushed the coolant system, and I got a new t-stat. However, and the Kid noted this was going on prior to that, the car is not blowing hard either hot or cold.

I'm getting cold air blowing out, but it just won't blow hard at all, and it seems worse on the driver's side, but that could just be my imagination.

What should I have them check?

If it's not blowing hard then it must be either a bad switch, blower motor, or the power connector on the blower motor <----most likely. If you lower your glove box door, you will see the blower motor and an orange/black wire on it, if you wiggle that wire, with the swtich set to highest fan speed, the motor should start to blow stronger, indicating a bad connection there.

Otherwise, maybe its just blowing out of all the vents because the valve that directs the air is broken?

Don't think that will have anything to do with the overheating though.

Have hubby or the kid pull the cap off the crossover tube to see if it is full of coolent. BE SURE TO DO THIS WHEN IT'S COLD! Was the "dealer" a Lincoln dealer? If it wasn't, they may have filled it from the overflow bottle = WRONG! Even it was a Lincoln dealer, they still may have filled it in the wrong place.... the dealer doesn't know the Mark VIII anymore!

I just kick the underside of the dash, or have my kids kick it when its not blowing, seems to work, :big-grin:

Is there any fix for this? Take it apart and clean it, tighten prongs? something?

Let me clarify everything. The car did overheat. Everything we saw indicated the thermostat was sticking. We changed that and had the coolant flushed. The plug on the crossover is stripped and completly frozen. Will have ot replace it eventually. The car is not over heating any more.

The problem is with the hvac blower morot (maybe). it works, but ther eis just not much air flow out the vents. It changes speed as the control dial is adjusted. The little cable on the motor was changed recently.

Did you check under the dash to see if all the ductwork was plugged into each section....

or that the actuators to direct the air are working properly.

if it sounds like the motor is blowing hard but no air out the vents then the air is not being direct to should it should be going.

blower is definetly workig correctly. I wil need ot look closer. Isn't there a way to manually actuate the blendoor or watch it to see if it is working correctly?

ok What would vacume have to do with the volume of air comming out the vents?

the vacuum is what moves the dampeners to direct the air flow.
when the air comes out the vents does some air also come out of the defroster or on the bottom where the heat comes out?

a little comes out each area. You can also hear the air flow switching between each vent when activating the switches. There just isn't much.

it is not even close to giving full air flow. It is just a trickle.

You do know I have 2 98 marks? The other one blows like a tornado even when completly cold. She was driving it arround today and said it never started blowing hard.

Just read the entire diognostic sequence. . One of the tests is checking control module for leaks, but the routine starts with checking the vacume lines in the engine bay. I did a quick visual and they all look connected. I need to get a vacume tester

We have a vacuum tester. I told the Kid this afternoon to check for vacuum leaks, but he didn't think that was the issue. He said he has one.
