Hey All, Mark your calendars for November 8, 2008! The website is open for registration for the Southern Super Heavyweight Shootout located in Commerce, Georgia :)

Enroll early, as I hear there might be a cap on registration. This is a great event, that features 4000 pound and up rear drive American cars with driver, racing both bracket and heads up. This is a great event that you do not want to miss!

And they put me on the front page even... LOL. :D

Come on people! We need more Mark VIIIs in this event!!

I'm wondering if me and that same Chevy guy will be in the finals for the brackets again this year! I've got to figure out a way to get past this runner-up thing that has haunted me two years running.

Maybe if I trailer the car to Atlanta it won't be so tired when we get there??? :D

lol JP Glad you like it! :) My nephew Bobby built the SSHS8 web site. I think you met him at SSHS7. He raced his Mustang GT vert last year. He put a picture of it on the website of him doing a burnout.

I told him to snag some photos of you, GoldBird, and of course yours truly to represent the Mark/T-Bird on the site, and to get a good mix of all the cars we hope to see at the event on there.

I am trying to get him to accept emails or upload pictures from registered SSHS8 contestants to create a slide show on the site of their car entered in the event. :) If you have any ideas for the site, let me know, and I will send it along...

My buddy Steve is running the event this year. He owns that Marauder that was parked next to mine at Aric's trailer last year. I been helping him trying to get this big ball rolling this year. Feel free to spread the word too. I have tried to post something on just about every forum I can find. :)

I hope the Blue Flame can seal the deal this year. We are really trying hard to get the Mopar guys to come to this event in force, so the brackets are going to be more of a challenge. This is going to be a great event! :)

I remember the GT 'vert and your nephew! :)

A slide show of participants cars would be awesome! I didn't get a lot of pics last year since my photographer was awol. lol

If there is anything the LOD could contribute, send me a PM and I'll see what we can do. With some more interest in this event, this has the potential to be one of the premier Mark VIII events for sure. I may take an extra day off this trip so it won't be such a stressful weekend. ;)

I look forward to seeing you, Jeff and some of the 'regulars' - including the Gassit guys and gals who definitely know how to host the evening entertainment. :D

Now if I could only get a pit crew signed up...

Man, I so want to go to this event. I've got a prior commitment in Atlanta that day. Any plans for after the event?

The Mark VIII guys usually head to Sonny's BBQ for dinner after racing all day. Then, the ones with some energy left in them usually find themselves in one, or some years just about all of the hotel parking lots celebrating the days activities with their favorite beverage and fellow racers from the event.

There is a reason people travel to this event from across the country. IMHO, the best event I have ever participated in. :)

Thanks, JP. I will let Steve know about your offer. lol I think Mrs Driller might appreciate some new warm attire for the event, but I don't think even that will convince her to change your tires for you. :) lol Jeff... He better get it in gear and go to Lonnies. Hey wait... I better get it in gear too! Clock is ticking... :)

The Mark should be done in the next week or two. After the first round on the dyno, Aric wanted to make some changes, and the car developed a idle issue.

My IMRC's had to be replaced, because from what I was told, the fuel rail could not be fastened down due to a bolt that snapped in the IMRC before I owned the car.

There is a pulley change from 3.10 to 2.70. Then, the new pulley from Reichard Racing did not have the key way machined properly, and had to be returned.

The new intake tube caused Aric some grief. It turned out to be the culprit of allowing un-metered air in at the throttle body connection because the t-bolt clamp crushed the tube oval shape.

This was discovered after countless hours of thinking and rebuilding the tune file like three times - twice by Aric, and another time by Andy (Aric's SCT guru friend spending time here in the ATL helping Aric out with the backlog) to no avail.

Needless to say, the new tube is going to the scrap pile, and Joey is going to make a new, modified tube with a reinforcement bead, and some more beef at the throttle body connection. Here is the tube that I think Aric will personally crush...

That is a real cool burnout photo posted on the SSHS8 web site, JP. :) I uploaded one from the Wendyvision camera takes of you lining up against an Impala, and one of doodaa and another of Dirty Old Man. We need some gen 1 photos on there! :)

lol I know Mike

lol I know Mike

I am in gear, just the finances aren't from me being out of work so long and living and paying bills and mortage off the checking account. The car is ready, just needs the MAF and tube Lonnie already has in his hands already and a dyno tune. I even have the new electric vacuum pump all plumbed in and wired up too. Sucks that all this happened this close to the event, but things happen, and we either adapt or sink.
I am flying out to Tx on Sept 8-9 for the second interview same place. The first one was a success in Jacksonville FL so im hoping ill be hired and be able to drop it off to Lonnies in time and pay the bill.
Im more worried about keeping the house right now, so the Mark has kind of taken a back burner in place of everything else. Florida housing market took a huge dive and real estate prices just like California and are at rock bottom now, basicly taking away all the equity people have been building for years and throwing it out the window to the tune of 50K to 70K per house value.

If im not prepared to go this year again, ill still come and hang with you guys and the afterhours party. lol
But the job is the priority right now and getting all my ducks in a row doesn't include the Mark right now. Akkk! did i just say that? haha I must be getting old or something. haha We will see after i get hired. It will be worth all this headaches for me in the long run with what ill get in return.

Jeff, you've got two months to get on your feet - I know you can do it. ;)

Regardless, I look forward to seeing you there again. Which hotel is the party at? LOL :D

Remember what happened last time when i said this stuff tastes good. that green kool aid kicked my butt. lol Or maybee it was the moonshine. That was some of the cleanest shine i have ever tasted. Very dangerous, cause it doesnt burn going down which led to my defeat and me passing out on the bed on my bathroom mission walk. haha i never came back. :fart LOL
Surprisingly i didnt wake up with a headache though which was cool.
