This year's shootout is going to be epic!

Jeff, Glad to hear you plan to be at the shootout!

What et/mph do you think you'll run?

If you think it will be above 11.50, at a minimum, tech is going to want to see an approved helmet and jacket since you have the aftermarket supercharger, and approved padding around the head area of your rollbar. Steel valve stems if on slicks, and secured approved battery box/vent if battery was moved to the trunk with clearly marked bumper on/off switch. You might want to take a look at a NHRA rule book to make sure.

I highly suggest booking a room and if something comes up, then cancel. Fairfield will cancel without penalty up to 6pm the day of the stay. ;)

Yep, got all that covered helmet and jacket from couple years ago, except the steel valve stems on the slicks. I'll get them remounted. I'll pick up some NHRA approved padding right there in Indianapolis at EARLS plumbing. (I was up there shopping with Lonnie, I thought it so cool that he had all these high end speed shops "just down the street" to run to go pick stuff up). Whereas most of us have to shop at Summitt Racing or JEGS and have to wait days to get it. I didn't really want to drill into my new trunk lid like before, but in order to run my current setup cutoff switch like before the hole must be made. Battery is in a Morosso box with vent so that's already set from a while back. Not really sure what it will do. All I have had it on is 1/8 mile. I'm guessing low 12s maybe high 11s. MPH was at 104 before mods , so im guessing somewhere in as fast as it will go range??? hahah "Put the hammer down son!"

Hmm. Is there any chance that there's a block of rooms under a specific name at the fairfield? I just checked the website and they claim they're booked up.

I suggest to call them. Many times I've called and gotten a room at a hotel having the Mrs. call when they were not available online.

Sounds like you got it covered, Jeff! Looking forward to seeing you man. It's been a few years - way too long... You still in touch with Marvin? I heard he sold his Mark inventory and moved to the east coast.

Check your dates Mike, I just went to the Marriott web site and it looks like they still have rooms. I checked the college football schedule and I do not believe there is a game in the area that weekend. I was hoping the rates would go down like they did last year. I reserved the "1 Bedroom 2 room Suite, 1 King, Sofa bed, Corner room" for Wendy, since it is her shootout birthday weekend again. :) She is a trouper spending her birthday every year at the track.

Thanks Mike.

I definitely had the wrong dates. I just had no problem at all booking on-line. I'm reserved for both Friday night, and Saturday night. I remembered to get it on my Marriott card this time too, so I can ask for the upgrade.. :)

I just dropped The Mark off at Aric's for it's annual pre-shootout once over. :)

Here's the list of todo's:

Change the oil / filter with Royal Purple oil and Ford Racing oil filter

Read and replace the spark plugs (type of plugs TBD based on the read)

Inspect and repair/replace the main cooling fan harness, or take action on whatever is causing that harness to cause the interruption of power to the cooling fan.

Inspect steering/drivetrain for drips, wear items, and/or safety concerns.

I plan to use VP C20 non-oxygenated race gas this year as a consistency / safety measure to help aid against detonation. I do not plan to add timing, but I do hope to run 12 flat all day long - even if I have to hot lap the car. :)

Aric called last night, and said he is very happy with the condition of the spark plugs. I believe they have been in the car since the engine was built. They were inspected and put back in the car a couple years ago. They all looked identical condition wise, and are showing minimal wear - enough wear to justify a new set. That said, he decided to use the same plugs - brand and heat range.

The factory radiator cooling fan connector plug is toast, and is being replaced with a heavy duty race car style plug. Hopefully, this will finally bring closure to the cars cooling fan issues. :)

Should be done going over the car tomorrow.

I really need to give my car a once-over.

I also just realized that I had yet to sign up for the event itself. I have just done so. Strangely, the registration tool on the website didn't ask for much information at all, but it took my money via paypal, so they should at least have my e-mail address.

We'll see how it goes. :) I am at least about as committed to the cause as I can get now..

I picked The Mark up from Aric's last night. He said it is good to go and ready for the shootout!

LOL... @ mlschlutz, I wish I had someone I could trust to prep my car.

I've been traveling most of last week and much of this week. I managed to find time last night to install a new fuse and relay setup for the electric water pump. I still haven't had any opportunity to work on the tune however.

I'll give the Blue Flame a 'once-over' this weekend in KY at the SuperCoupe Shootout. :cool-blue:

lol JP :) I am very lucky Aric's shop is a couple miles from the house. He plans to be at the shootout this year, and possibly compete with his mopar.

Good luck and give 'em hell this weekend in KY!

Get er done son!

Make sure you keep that parking meter full of quarters!

What was wrong with the spark, and how did you fix it?

Is it that 1st gen Mark issue at higher rpm's that convinced JP to go OBDII on the Blue Flame?

Glad to hear there's progress!

Anyone interested in meeting for dinner Friday before the hotel parking lot shenanigans?

Also, don't forget there should be test & tune drag racing around 6pm at the track.

Tentatively, yes.

I'd say "definitely" yes, but I feel there is a chance that my sister will insist that I take her kids trick-or-treating.. Assuming people do that in Georgia.. :D

I didn't remember a test and tune the night before at the track.. That sounds like fun. I wonder if I was well settled into the parking lot party by then.. Were you thinking dinner before the test and tune then?

My mistake, I just checked the track schedule, and they are closed on Friday night. :frown: They have been open in years past on Friday night, but must be closed for Halloween this year. Remember last year, I think I arrived at the hotel around 8-9pm because Aric was working on the car in the 11th hour and it took me like 3 hours to drive 90 miles. Not this year - I plan on taking the day off from work, and should be in Commerce around lunch time. (I arranged for early check-in at the hotel.)

lol People celebrate Halloween in GA, but not as intensely as up north. I think maybe a couple dozen kids max have shown up at my door in the past few years. Probably because of the hilly terrain, and the houses in my sub are on 3/4 acre lots. Must be too much work for the candy lol.

I was thinking of going to one of the restaurants within walking distance of the hotel once everyone that wants to go is ready. There is a Mexican restaurant, a steakhouse, and a chain store general menu restaurant that come to mind near the hotel.

I thought I was going to attend but my girlfriend is having surgery on the 31th. I know I will miss a great event! Enjoy.
