1993 Mark VIII convertible progress

This photo also reminds me of the "Collector's Edition" floor drain plug you gave me a while back. It's still installed in my green car, and serving its purpose quite nicely.. :)

Na, the rust was just light surface rust it came off easily with the wire brush. It was stains from the wet carpet more than anything else.

Some brave cuts were required for that one.. Impressive, Bill.

The black is going to look great in there, too.

Thanks Mike, actually so far those cuts won't be seen as they are hidden by the back seat.

I got the seat back back from the trim shop, I had them narrow my black seat skin and put it on the convertible modified mocha seat frame and foam. I'm not a sewing guy.:)

Here's a shot of the mocha skin laying on the original black frame and foam, and the modified black skin on the modified frame and foam.:)

Looks awesome. dare I ask how much a mod like that costs? I have no idea what the going rate is for upholstery is these days, although I'd guess you're in the right city to find folks with experience.

Thanks Mike, yes, I paid too much for it, but I hate that kind of work.

I'm much more comfortable working on electrical things.:)

Tijuana is known for upholstery?

there are days I wish I had spare $$$ and time for a convertible like yours...a project, yet something that at least 60% of it is like all other Mark VIII's.

I finally got some time and decent weather to get back to this project.

I finished trimming the rear side panels and had to modify the black seat bottom by cutting the frame to allow room for the little angle gusset connecting the inside quarter panel to the floor.

I did a test fit, it's a little tight now, but I can adjust that, I'm glad the side panels fit well though.

I think the black is going to look much better than that mocha color.:)

I've been gathering up the black interior parts. I've had to swap the cupholder/tray part from a different spare console.

I like the 94 dark wood much better than the stick-on, oak looking stuff.:)

They say once you go dark wood you never go back. :D It does look much better than the lighter wood.
