are you sure there not lacy snowflakes?
[/quote]
Not to me, they look like Continental wheels I have seen before, but the angle of the pic casts some strange reflections. But I bet up an upclose inspection would confirm this. The snowflakes' center 'hub' is not as large as these appear. These appear to be 'solid' from the center out to the last inch or so before the rim.

These are what is known as the 'snowflakes':

vs. the wheels on the Mark in the litho:

compared to a '96 Continental(close, but still not quite the same):

Well it looks to me like no one around here is familiar with this pic. I still don't know if that makes it worth $125. I guess I could buy it at that price and then in a few years try to sell it to Sandy or somebody for $225.

Or get a better camera and take a better picture, then print it out real big and frame it.

Now that's a brilliant idea!! But for that much trouble I may as well go down to the beach and take a pic of my OWN danged car. I've even got the blue whale tale license plates. Now...to find somebody to clean my wheels. :)

According to a consensus at the dealership, those are indeed Conti wheels but no one could offer an explanation why. One of those enigmas wrapped in a riddle. Astute observation Art.

Sandy! Come on! Look through your library and source those wheels!

I recall that the very very first '93s had some sort of weird wheel on them.

Weren't those wheels on the car in the "Lower the Bar" commercial at the end?

Has anyone considered that this is simply a rendering made before the intro of the Mark VIII and they hadn't yet finalized the rims?

Leo: you may well be correct. But, it seems that some companies see a set of wheels they like and design a car around that. ;)

That wheel is the same Continental wheel I posted on post #20. I've seen others the same or very similar.

JP: yeah, I think you are right. Well at least I got Jay to put the poster pic back up.
