96 Hood Separation

The hood on my 96 Mark is separating in the front. I noticed the hood was "bouncing" up and down, on the way home from work. It seems the air is able to get in between the bottom and top section. Has anyone had this happen before? If so, how did you repair it? I put some clear mylar to keep the too sections together and block airflow. It's working so far.

I've never had it happen but I've seen it happen on plenty of cars. Usually the culprit is rust, at least in all the ones I saw. Other than welding the thing back together and then smoothing out the welds and repainting I'd say your only other option would be to replace the hood... or keep riding around with your current fix. :D

Its glued together if you look at the hood close you can see the circles were its bonded.
a painters nightmare.. most won't paint the hood because of this.
Or will make it clear the spots might be noticeable after a re-spray.

I would replace it, too bad your not local I have a black hood I would give you.

I wish someone made a stock type aluminum or carbon fiber hood. Just to take some weight off the front end. This hood is a heavy sob.
