A/C bypass belt length? Even possible?

So my compressor is going bad. Not locked up but I don't want it to with the belt routed around it. I'd rather not do the compressor delete pulley if possible and just short belt it. Car is just a back up ride and rarely gets driven but the compressor is making hella noise now and I'd like to remedy cheaply. So am I thinking wishful or is there a short belt part number that will do the trick? Car in question is a '96 base

I never got around to it to actually verify it, but according to my notes, you're looking for:

-Dayco 5060790
-Gates K060785RB

Some mustang owners used a different tensioner(or bolt the currenr a different way) and a 3.8 v6 belt to bypass it.

Supposedly this makes the low end feel touchier
