Air ride on or off

If it were me, I'd be tempted to simply disconnect the battery for shipping. Particularly if you plan to be present when it is unloaded, so you can supervise any reconnection/inflation if required. (if the bags are bad, and it slams while in transport, for example.)

I agree with Tixer, but depending on how your car is routed and the driver involved. Lots of times a car will need to be unloaded in order to drop off or pick up another vehicle, and your car may need to be started. That being said, there is no way to guarantee the battery is going to be disconnected after it's re-loaded. I would turn off the air ride at max height, and be sure that there is a good battery in the car before shipping.

Very good point. I didn't consider the unloading/re-loading/re-arranging angle..

Depending on the tie downs is how it should be decided. If it is tire straps then it can be left on or if they strap just to lower control arms.

To be safe I would have the switch off.

Car was loaded yesterday. I went with; Car aired up, put on truck, turn air off before closing door. Asked for tire straps or LCA tie downs. If it slams I have a new battery and some jacks standing by. It should be here tomorrow, and then we'll know more Thanks for all your help TONYyyy

Car finally got here around 2pm. Only had front tire straps, and didn't fall off the truck. Very pleased with first inspection. Can't wash it toooo cold. I'll wipe the white streaks off tomorrow.

Just saw this post. Good choice turning off the air ride!

I had my 97 LSC shipped from Ohio to Texas in November. From the seller to several other friends with Lincoln's and air ride suspensions, asked them that same question. The answer was the same, turn it off.
The suspension arrived in perfect shape, just like the rest of the car.

Definitely need some pics!

A very nice collection, Tony! You need to find three friends who all want to come to Carlisle. :D
