Ive heard of this before, cant find much info on it though. Im assuming you drill holes in your intake [before] the filter ?? How many holes? How much does it help? Does it help with nitrous or worse? Let me know your opinions.

i just took a 2" hole saw and cut a few holes in the front of my air box that was my first mod just because it was free and easy. it helped a little bit just because now you car is sucking air through about a 2" by about 10" long straw that points right at your front bumper. even then its maybe 3/4" away from the bumper so it has to suck pretty hard to get air to move through there at WOT. it should help some but dont expect huge gains from it. it will help the most at WOT when it needs the extra air flow.

Why drill up a good box box when you have plenty of fresh air from the hole left when you clear out the snorkle. You are also introducing under the hood warm air by drilling.

Not really...the front of the box is getting air from behind the headlight housing...I just drilled a couple of rows of holes in it, nothing too big to suck up leaves.

However,,, If you remove the entire silencer assy, and bolt the filter box back in place, you have a constant source of usually cooler air than what is available from anywhere under the hood. Volume of air is not the issue.

I would agree.

I did both...
I took a 2 inch doorknob hole saw and put to holes.. one uppper right corner and one lower left corner.
Then I used a jigsaw and connected the two holes and ended up with a very large oblonged hole in the front of the air box.
This was done after I pulled the silencer assembly

I doubt removing the front of the air box did much for HP gain, but it did allow more of the 32 valve symphony to reach the outside world.

I took off all the silancer ass. instead of drilling holes.. i then took like a screen from an old speeker and cut it to fit over the hole on the outside and glued it on.... it works great
