IMRC question

Tried to search but couldnt find anything.
I have a code saying the IMRC is stuck open, but no CEL. I can reach behind the intake and pull on the little cables and feel the IMRC's open and closing so I know its not stuck. Maybe it got stuck at some point but no longer is? I dunno.

Normally I would just reset the codes, but the communist republic of california is saying that I have to get a smog test done, even though it is registered in WV, I have been stationed here for 3+ years, and I will be stationed in NC in less than 6 months. But I need to pass smog to get a new base sticker. I replaced the battery last week and am still trying to get rid of the P1000 code so I can pass.

I am thinking running some seafoam through it in case it is sticking occasionally. Anyone else have this problem?

You can pass with a P1000 code.... doesn't that mean you jsut disconnected your battery or cleared the codes and you need to make a few starts/stops? It'll go away on it's own after you drive it a while.

You can't pass with the P1000 code. It means that the system readiness test hasn't been completed.

If that's your only code, just drive the car around for a while and check again.

Yep, wont pass with that code. been going back for the last week/200 miles and still there. I got "hooked up" and got a new base sticker today so no more smog check needed. Which is good because with no cat, different intake manifold, no EGR, etc... there is no way it would ever pass.

So about the IMRC's, I cleared the codes when I got home today so we'll see if they come back. Why would I have the code and no CEL?

Sorry, I meant the code for the IMRC P1517 or something like that. IMRC stuck open b1 with no CEL. Dont know if it was "pending", just saw it there on my X3.

For California SMOG tests with our cars, you need all but 3 readiness monitors. I cleared my EVAP codes and drove around and monitored the monitors with my cheapy scanner. Once I have all but 3, I scooted over and got the test done. As I left the shop, my check engine light came on. ;)

More than likely, it was a problem that cleared itself. Unfortunately the codes themselves don't clear. Only the CEL. As far as the P1000, anytime you clear codes you set a P1000. Now, the computer must satisfy all of the various drive cycle parameters.
