P1747 = Pressure Control Solenoid A Short Circuit. Last time I drove The Mark was a month ago, and everything was fine when I put it away. Yesterday, was getting it ready for C&O today and drove it to fill it up with fuel, and the OD went crazy - searching, locking in and out randomly. Turned OD off, and was fine the rest of the way home. Hooked up the xcal, and saw the code. Cleared, loaded another tune, and same problem when test drive. Went looking at wires under the hood, and all is fine visually. Called Aric, and no answer, so I will call him next Tuesday. Looking on TCCOA, a PCS for 98 and newer with 350+hp is PN XL3Z-7G383-AA. Anyone out there ever have this happen to them?

I believe that i got that code when i was driving to class a few weeks ago. It wasnt shifting weird or anything though, turned out to be the main harness got wet from rain the night before. Let it dry and reset the computer and its been good ever since

I would check the wiring going to the transmission on the outside and check for a pinch or break somewhere. If that visual inspection passes, I would suspect that the likely culprit is the EPC solenoid itself inside the valve body.

Spoke to Josh yesterday at IE. Going to postpone for a few weeks and let The Mark sit in the garage so I can be around when they start working on it. Steve, the guy that built the transmission, has moved on and is back working at another Ford dealer nearby. I need to see if this is something that Aric wants to tackle, or have Steve stop by and figure it out.

Spoke with Aric today. I am going to drop The Mark off this evening, and Steve will look at it in the morning. Hope it turns out to be no big deal. We'll see... :)

Aric called yesterday. Steve ran diagnostics Saturday, and confirmed the code. They dropped the pan, and everything looked perfect. Considering he built the transmission over 10 years ago, Steve was concerned there might be metal bits in the pan that would indicate it would be ready for a refresh.

That said, it appears we are dealing with electrical gremlins outside the case. Parts are on order, and should be here today. Six hundy in so far, and hopefully this will fix it and get The Mark back on the road. Stay tuned... :)

It must feel pretty good to know that the trans is still perfect though, eh?

Yes Mike, it does help ease the pain a little. It seems my biggest issue with this car is the factory electronics / wiring weirding out without warning.

So the parts did not fix the problem. Time for the pin test to hunt down the flaky wire. Might be a few days before they can work on it again.

I stopped by the shop and spoke with Ryan today. He did the pin test, and everything was within spec with no signs of bad wiring, so they put The Mark on a trailer and shipped it to Steve's shop. Steve is going over everything, but suspects the ECU may have somehow gone bad. I am now hunting down a BTC0 code ECU to help move this along.

I decided to order one on ebay from ecu_supply_company. They sold it for $114 with free expedited shipping and 30 day warranty. 99.9 positive feedback. ebay says it should be here by Thursday.

I dropped off the computer last Wednesday, and stopped by the the shop on Saturday to see if it worked. Josh said Aric, Steve, and Ryan all agree it will fix it. Aric has to go pick The Mark up from the Ford dealership that Steve works at this week, swap the computers, load the tune, and see if they were right in their diagnosis.
