went tonight to pick up the new wheels for it after work, blew the rear end backing out of a parking spot at 7-11 with four chrome 03-04 cobra wheels and tires inside it. off to gearheads saturday to get a rebuild kit for it and 3:73's then dropping it off at RMP Performance to have the entire rear rebuilt. might as well go the distance now! stupid cars!!

What did you break in the rear end??

awww that's crappy! I hate throwing money into a car you just buy (damn transmission).

well its not blown, i took the diff cover off and drained it, checked everything out, it just has play in it, seems very worn out, plus the front pinion seal is leaking, so i think it was low, what drained out and what i put back in seemed quite different as far as the amounts go!! i filled it with valvoline h.p limited slip plus a tube a posi additive and it seems fine other than the slop it seems to have, lots of backlash more than normal. so i bought a full rear diff rebuild kit and motor sport 3:73 gears and its getting done this week, along with new u-joints and exhaust is getting done too. after i get it back i am installing new upper and lower rear control arms because thats where the majority of all the noise is coming from, the bushings are crapola. i put the cobra wheels on already and it made a world of difference.

just installed a B&M Ripper short throw shifter last night with a black hurst ball knob man o man short throws are soooooooooo nice! it shifts so quick and close and tight, its absolutely awesome. took me about a half hour to swap it not bad at all i never put one in anything before. gears are in a box in the trunk, all new seals and bearings for the diff, gear oil, dropping it off after work tomorrow and hopefully i will have it back by sunday. having a pair of 2 chamber 40 flows welded on and new tail pipes for now, eventually i will put a mac off road h pipe on and mac headers and mufflers too and eliminate the 02's with MIL's but this is all in the future i have other priorities i have to tend to with tax refund also, cant blow it all on the car!!

P.S. the engine actually comes out the top!

And..even funnier, a 4V in that body style you can actually look down beside the motor and see the ground, unlike in the mark 8.
I always thought it was funny there was more room in the mustang engine bay.

my buddy pete does lots of 5.4 swaps into these 99-04 body style, he told me i could do it myself in my garage with ease, not like i want to lol, but maybe someday a mach 1 dohc or something similar may be in the future! you know i am very impressed with the power it does have for stock, it isnt doggy like the late 95 to 98 sohc this car pulls very hard for bone stock, i am sure the new gears will wake it up even more and the exhaust too. i love it, its a fun car.
