Nice shot, Steve. Keep your eyes open at Goodwill, thrift stores, and garage sales. the old 35mm fully manual lenses tend to go cheap, and are often easy to adapt to fit modern Digital SLR cameras. For shots like this, they're perfect. Get a stable tripod, dial in the settings, set a long exposure, and use the "self timer" to reduce vibration if you don't have a remote release. You'll get some amazing photos.

I used the self timer since it flips the mirror before exposing to reduce the vibration. I also have a remote release. Only issue with a long exposure of the moon is that it is moving, lol My Sony dslr uses konica minolta base.
Have to remember it was only an 80 mm lens and one world trade center is 39 miles away, lots of light and other pollution there as well as some clouds.

Nice. It sounds like you've got all the tricks already. My camera is also a Sony, but it uses their E mount. I had to get one of these for my "old-school" lenses to work:
http://www.amazon.com/Fotasy-NA42-Adjustable-E-Mount-Adapter/dp/B003YBPRHI/

Since the sensor on the camera isn't quite as large as 35mm film, it has the effect of creating a bit of a "poor man's zoom" on the older lenses. Objects appear a bit closer than they otherwise would. But the older lenses also tend to have very good optics, so for stuff that isn't moving, it's great.

I was going to post some sample photos, but it looks like my webserver is down. oops. :D

i have their first dslr the alpha 100, my only lens is digital for the smaller sensor, a 16-80 mm zeiss lens. Good for most shots, but not telephoto. When i save up the coin i will look into getting a good telephoto, what i liked about the Sony at the time (around 8 years ago) is that the image stabilization is build into the sensor, so every lens has IS. They got that from when they took over konica minolta

Well this was taken by a cell phone. I have a camera but it's smarter then me and makes fun of me.

Since a zone 3 hazard warning was issued I quickly slapped a roof over the side of my garage. Then took the mark out one last time and put her to sleep. I also needed my garage cleaned up to work on my T.

Yup, picked them up at the swap meet for $10 ea, only got 3 and missed out on a 4th one. Was going to hang them in the fireplace room since they're to far gone for rebuilding.

Don't let them near beerdog, he will burn them in the fireplace, lol

Driving home the winter beater. 2002 Grand Marquis. The only issues are a clunk when I clock the wheel about a half turn and it seems to be coming from the driver's side wheel. Not sure what it is yet. Also a VEEEEEEERY slight misfire under load in overdrive if a manipulate the throttle a certain way. Otherwise it rides smooth as butter and the transmission shifts perfectly. It has the PI 4.6 so no valve stem worries like the older 4.6 SOHC cars and it has the good 4R70W in it. 174K on the clock. Just a baby. ;)

Are the front fenders rotted through yet? That's the only thing that keeps me from ever buying another panther again.

Nope. Not even close. The rust is very minimal.

You're missing out if that's the only thing keeping you from them. Fenders and body parts are a hell of a lot easier to find on these cars than a Mark8. My Mark8s would be rotted if I drove them in the winter here. I'd rather rot the fenders on a car that has a billion parts still available. :p

... and now I know what instrument cluster I need to swap into my Town Car.

No fair at all. I miss my digital dash.

Double check the Tq on the spark plugs, I had 2 blow outs on mine. Ford upgraded the heads in 03 with deeper plug wells.

Glad you found a panther, they make great daily drivers and parts are CHEAP!

That's pretty cool, Steve. I've never seen anything like it, but it is the answer to a question I've asked a bunch of times. I've never come up with a good way to support a log while cutting without it binding the sawblade. That's the answer.

My current solution has been to drag the miter saw out into the yard. Looks funny, works great, but I like your solution better.
