You would love it. I want to build some more and add it to the living room TV.Parts Express has been my go-to source for speaker parts for years now, but I've never paid much attention to their kits before. That one does look like a winner. I like their choices of components.
Mark, you need this to attach to your new-found treasure!!Tonight's project: A "vintage" Technics SA-913. I rescued this little receiver from the "scrap" bin at work. I bet my co-worker that it was in there for no other reason than being "old."
Turns out I was (mostly) right. The backlight was out, but all the inputs, sliders, and switches work perfectly. The unit itself isn't really "audiophile" grade, and it doesn't output huge power, but It is a good, clean example of mid-80's Japanese design. It does seem to have a better tuner than I expected. Even in my basement, it is pulling in all of the major stations in the area.
For the backlight, I soldered in an bayonet-base automotive LED bulb I had on-hand. Not necessarily ideal, as I didn't bother rectifying the AC, so there is a perceptible flicker. The fact that it is routed through a light-guide seems to help somewhat. Brightness is good with the load-resistor I ran in series with the bulb. We'll see what the lifespan is like. I have more of these, but I left everything in place to go back to incandescent if the future demands it.
Now I just have to figure out what to do with it. I already have a system in the garage, and another downstairs for the "home theater," While my Bang & Olufsen serves the rest of the house.
I'm considering putting together a workshop for my bicycles in the main room downstairs, so maybe there. Or a friend suggested speakers for the back yard. Not a bad idea at all.
Unless one of you is in the market for something like this, anyway..

I haven't either. It seems like a good skill to have. lol.heheh. Too bad I can't mount that in my trunk!
I had to edit this post to let you know that the perfectly coiled power cord on that CD changer makes me happy. I've never quite perfected that technique.
Too bad...I just last week sold the mobile mate to that changer (i had it in my Mark) last week on ebay.heheh. Too bad I can't mount that in my trunk!

A valid question... My house!A/V storage room, in the school or you house? lol
Well, I think I know what I'm doing over lunch now...Speaking of Laser Disk, A friend told me there are a bunch of them cheap at "Half Priced Books" ....$5ish...
Yours is NEWER than mine, Mike..... actually, not a surprise. For Bud: I got to thinking about your (home) CD changer... It looked familiar. I did some digging in my A/V storage room, and came up with this: Not the exact model you have, but darn close.

The station was closed at the time but even if it was open I don't see a garage being interested in me pushing "club propaganda" on one of their customers. I will be definitely keeping an eye out for the owner of the car since I'd love to speak to him/her about the car and club. You actually got out of the car to put a card on the guys (gals) windshield and you didn't go in the station and ask about it?
