Holy crap!! What is that from?? That's not how the oil looked when you pulled the pan, I hope!!
That's on a 45k mile '10 Expedition. Coolant in the oil, obviously. Haven't determined what exactly happened yet. But that's exactly how it looked when the pan came down!

Oops. That sucker had better be covered under warranty!! I see what, piston rings? Maybe some rod pieces?
Should be covered under the powertrain warranty.

You see all of the contents of cylinder 4. Rings, cylinder head, etc. You can make it out in the second pic.

that's how the pan looked on our 55k mile f150 when we pulled it down...and the truck obviously has new head gaskets and 2 rods that look like they've been replaced.

So I guess oil turns to coffee with milk when mixed with coolant, huh?

Do the Ford engineers get notified about this, is there a report so they can look into this or is it just a repair and forget?

Wow! I would be tempted to think that this didn't happen overnight but was rather driven for awhile with the head gasket blown.

I think they'd be complaining of a little more than just a knock if it didn't! ;)
You never know my wife is car savy enough that if she hears anything odd from the engin she shuts it down NOW and calls me right away.

If it did all I have to say is that's one hell of an engine to keep going with that in the oil!
