Post a picture you took today.

The isolators don't provide an angled base, they provide a helical slope for the end of the coil. All the lower perches out there (ThomasA's, Tuck's, DLF's, mine, etc.) were machined with angled bases for a reason. ;)
I know the others were, but I also know that DLF's were not.

I believe the following quote from Doug adequately states what I'm trying to say:
The Mark VIII's air bags aren't angled, so I never quite got the reason for the perches to be angled. My measurements actually showed the tilt in the stock MN-12 LCA's (at normal ride height). I believe that the MN-12 LCA's are the ones that are actually tilted because the stock isolator doesn't completely compensate for the lower spring pigtail.
I believe that the helical slope in the Prothane isolators compensate for any needed angle with the M8 LCA's.

You'll note that I corrected my post to exclude DLF's perches an hour and twenty minutes before you quoted me.

The angle is not nearly as critical when using airbags as it is when using a coil spring. The angle is also dependent on ride height. The perches I've drawn up are based on a ride height set 1" lower than stock.

Yeah, I started writing that, and got sidetracked for a little while.

Truthfully, I just don't see it being necessary. Besides that point, I don't have the equipment to include that.

In your opinion, what makes it a necessity?

I don't know about the tbirds/cougars, but I just went out to my car and looked.

Any angle that there is in the LCA cup is matched at the upper mount. I just don't see the need for any angle to be built into the perch. Which direction would the thicker side of the perch be facing?

The upper perch isn't angled. IIRC, the thicker side of the lower perch faces the centerline of the chassis.
The upper perch appears to be angled slightly as compared to the level ground. The bottom of the perch angles toward the front of the car, very slightly.

The lowers seem to have the same, slight angle to them. As far as left/right, mine are sitting pretty dang level.

Here's a photo of a tool I bought today.

It's for turning the rear caliper piston back in, when you change the pads.

It covers right and left hand threads, and has adaptors for many cars. Even a Citroën.:err-what?:

For 40 bucks, it's worth it. I don't have to borrow the tool anymore, it's right here.

I'm on a boat!

USS Hornet, felt pretty cool to be on the same flight deck that the Doolittle raid, Apollo 11, Apollo 12 and the last ship to fire a nucular misile. Talked to several men that served on the ship. I love museums and artifacts but the best piece of history is one you can talk to. Very cool but now I'm glad to be back on the other side of the bay.

H'mm where was this tool when I did my rear brakes on my 97. I bought a cheap thing that may have worked if it at not been for frozen rear brakes :eek-large:

Went to the SuperCoupe Shootout this weekend. No racing for me but I did get accolades at the car show and had a good time! :)

Thanks, I thought it was pretty cool the SuperCoupe folks thought so highly of the car. There were a lot of very fine cars in attendance and they put on a great weekend. :)

I am still not confident of the tuning, so rather than risk something terrible, I decided it was best to spectate. Probably a good thing since there was a lot of breakage at the track!

I'm more of a craft beer drinker but got a tour of Napa valley, did some wine tasting and stopped at the golden gate bridge park.
