I was looking at the SCT x4 power flash since its the new one and on your site recommend or do business with blue oval and looking at their site have the SF power programmer. Is that just an older version because I'd like to stick with a new one and a pre-loaded tune the ones that come from Mark 8 muscle with tunes program in it for 400 anybody else out there using the SCT x3 or X 4?

I have the X3 programmer(s).

One is for the daily driver 6.2L Harley Davidson F150 with a Blue Oval Chips custom tune for 93 octane. Easy to flash and also serves as a data logging device as well as a code reader. The tune results in much better drivability than stock, better fuel mileage and of course the unlocked speed limiter.

I have another X3 I use on the OBD2 converted '93. I use it with the SCT Pro Racer Program to modify the tune as allowed as well as data logging.

And I picked up yet another X3 programmer with the '98 Cordovan CE which was needed to facilitate the setup with the '04 Cobra motor.

I haven't heard any reviews of the X4 programmer.

when I looked at the Blue Oval website for the X 4 programmer they stay it came with three of the shelf preloaded tunes and if you scroll down to the supported vehicles it doesn't support the Lincoln Mark 8 it does however have the New LS or the Mustang 4.6 liter .will I have to have a custom tune built with it or will it work considering the same motor as the four valve 4.6 Mustang?
because I can always add a custom tune when the mods are done but when the motor goes in it will have the cams and headers on it

I've noticed this as well.

A phone call to Lonnie may be in order to see if there's a reason he lists the tuners in that way. It could be as simple as price / vs the features on our computers it is capable of adjusting. I called him when I ordered my own X3, and found him to be super helpful. The experience was a good one.

Blue Oval Chips also has a specific forum on this board. You may be able to start a thread there and get a response, if a telephone call is impractical/impossible in your current predicament. http://www.lincolnsofdistinction.org/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?71-Blue-Oval-Chips

the programmers from Blue Oval require an additional charge for a tune mark 8 muscle comes with a mark viii tune created for the mark 8 on it included in the price. I had a Delta Force programmer before that I liked and was stolen I was thinking about getting another one even though their prices have gone up considerably but it's a Direct plug and go mark viii specific or all ford gas vehicles with all of the same adjustable parameters that you can adjust on the SCT tuners you can also have custom tunes made for the programmer as well. Anybody use a sniper or Delta Force programmer

My opinion is maybe be worried more about the tune itself then the tuner that loads it to the car.

Any SCT programmer with a "canned" Ford tune (even Mark VIII 'specific') will not be comparable to a custom tune from a competent tuner experienced with Mark VIIIs.

I also bought an SCT X3 from Blue Oval Chips with a Lonnie custom tune.

The spec sheet he has you fill out with info about your setup leaves nothing to chance.

If after your test drive you would like your tune tweaked he will Email you another tune to load.

when I said Mark 8 specific it's actually a custom tune they write for you for the mark 8. Mark 8 muscle Temple performance but everybody here seems to think Lonnie is the greatest so I'll try again to reach him but you are right it is in the tune and somebody that knows about Mark 8 would be better but that's all they do there at mark 8 muscle.
thanks driller. Anybody know where I can get set of upper and lower 98 Cobra intake bolts??

yeah I found their site and he emailed me the fonts and sizes and pictures I forgot that some of the bolts have extensions on top that are threaded for other things doesn't the back of the alternator bracket bolts to the top of those two front intake bolts and it looks like there's two bolts with a big fat ring around then and I'm not sure where those apply

The spacers are used to get the crossover tube brackets and the alternator bracket at the proper mounting heights for a single through bolt versus the studded intake bolts. You'll get the picture when you have all the pieces.

so that long will go through the alternator bracket with the spacer underneath will I have to drill out the alt bracket, and take out the intake manifold if I have to change the alternator out

that's technically what I meant those long bolts will go through the alternator brackets through the front of the intake manifold not removing the intake manifold but the front two bolts will have to come out but the bolt size is different for the alternator bracket and the intake bolt it seems that it will have to be drilled wider to accommodate the intake bolt. I've read his article and kirks to death and with my researching this should be easy as pie even from my wheelchair with some help it's already powerco **** and I will send pics when I start I still have to get out of this hospital and I'm going to have to get a few more things while the motor is out can while the motor is out the guys not going to charge me extra to install it and whether or not I decide to pull the plug on the Cobra manifold that I have or go for me Kooks headers again. I found a set of Cobra headers for around 350 that a shop might modify since their long tubes but I don't want set to exceed the amount I would have to pay for the Kooks headers because I again wouldn't have to pay for installation since the motor is out you can put the cams in, the headers on motor in rather than trying to put the headers in later with the motor in the car
