State Farm has offered me a similiar device to the Progressive one. I declined it.
I agree with Bill, its a slippery slope to monitor what we do. They will surely use this information to adjust our rates at some point. Just like the banks, the gov limits what they can gouge us on and they start to get creative with fees.

Don't most (all?) modern cars keep a record of the last 30 or 60 seconds of all data for the accident reconstructionists to be able to see what inputs you were making?

basically something like that, the C5 since new in 1997 has what they call a black box aka EDR,
