Did this a couple weeks ago. Car's been through the wash three times and rain once since then... all fixed. A tip for anyone doing this after: When taking the old butyl tape off, use a clump of it to peel it off. It really likes to stick to itself -- more so than the surface it's on. After that, you can use a solvent to get the residue off and get a clean surface.
