Hey guys! Looking at a rust free west coast EVAP tray on Flebay... What are these things worth? I'd rather buy one from a club member but I haven't seen any for sale.

Thanks!

Some times you have to make a WTB post to find one. Seems they go for as much as $150 on the auction sites. Check past sales history to see what they go for.

That same seller had it listed before with a buy it now of $100 and it did not sell. No one even bidded. They are hard to come by in the midwest in that condition. It just depends on hw bad you want it to look all pretty.

Ebay is starting to warn sellers for doing that with shipping.....big article in the Wash Post a while back.

I did notice that shipping bill. I have never shipped one, but I imagine the cost to ship a part that large could get that expensive depending on the method.

they actually charge a fee on shipping now, I noticed that last time I sold something

I would think from shipping alot of things that that tray could go in a flat larger box (flay meaning not equally square) and would be somewhere in the $20 range

The tray isn't any bigger then a Harry Potter book.
its bigger than that, lol

Yeah, shipping was $30.51 from CA. I ship stuff at work and found that to be a bit on the high side. Anyway, I lost the bidding war with 2 other people so I'm still looking for one.

Do we actually NEED that tray? What is its purpose? Can you simply let whatever it catches drip on the ground?

Bud, the tray houses 2 charcoal canisters for "catching" fuel vapor fumes which is the most retarded thing they ever put on cars but I won't get into that... On the second charcoal canister (drivers side) there is a vent or purge solenoid. If you were to unplug that solenoid or mess with it's signal it will throw a check engine light.

I'm pretty sure if a "Y" connector was used to join the 2 vent hoses together into the purge solenoid, bypassing the charcoal canisters, and the system kept sealed it should work "fine" i.e. no check engine light.

I make stuff
I've got a brand-new looking tray that I got from the junkyard to go on my 98. I sand-blasted it anyway and then had it powdercoated matte-black, and now it looks like I just bought it from Ford.

Anyway, the tray it's replacing is in really good shape too.
I noticed that you posted you were thinking about the PC'd crossover tube I've got for sale. I'll make you a deal if you wanna buy it all...

My tray is in really good shape for a rust belt car that's been driven in the winter, I'm just worried "things" will show up when it's bead blasted... Guess I'll blast it and see if it disintegrates.

Shoot me a PM with what you had in mind... Thanks!
