Well guys that dreaded tensioner tick finally gave into my engine failing due to the secondary tensioner coming apart an now its missing and ticking any way to fix it or is it a goner?

You can get a new 4 valve timing chain kit complete with new tensioners. If it didn't break the chain, it can likely be saved.

Start here... LINK

These engines are 'interference' engines, meaning any cam timing fault will have the pistons contacting the valves which at a minimum will result in bent valves. Piston/head damage can also result. If this has happened, the head(s) will need removed and the damages assessed.

There is no way the secondary chain could 'skip a tooth', there simply isn't enough chain even if the tensioner fails. The sprocket could have loosened on the camshaft resulting in damage.

I'm not sure about these new engines :). But in the past the cams had a pin that the sprocket would line up with so they could not move.

Well I looked through the spark plug holes at the pistons as my assistant rotated the engine and saw no damage to any piston I just really need to know if there is any way of timing these engines without a degree wheel

"New"? LOL

The sprockets are supposed to be keyed to the camshaft but I had one fail resulting in damage. Actually the cam bolt decided to come out and wrecked everything so it was difficult to say what really happened.

Look at the link I posted. There is no degree wheel necessary to align the timing marks on the sprockets and chains. But everything must be aligned precisely without allowing the cams and crank to move from their positions throughout the process.

Funny, I was on the phone with my brother talking about this, his comment was to just line up all the dots....lol

Actually they really do have dots on them. Once you pull the tensioners and chains off youll see them. I got two engines here for sale in garage if you need parts. One longblock, and one shortblock only pistins and crank still in it.

Little triangles and dots on the big gear wheels.
