"Scrunch" noise from Front Left... Traction Control Related?

Depending on how much gas I'm giving it, I'll get a scrunch kind of noise just after shifting from 1st to 2nd... It sounds kind of like how squishing a rolled up ball of paper might sound? It sounds as if it's coming from the front left wheel.

I've kind of ignored it until a couple days, when it was raining and my traction control kicked in... it made the exact same noise when it was limiting the throttle. Has anyone experienced this?

I haven't driven mine in about a year but from what I remember.. Once you reach a certain speed the abs cycles and is active, I remember hearing the noise every time in about the same spot on the road leaving my house.
When the traction control activates it is much louder but a similar sound.

Worry about it or no? Not having any ABS issues.

It sounds like it might be the ABS pump test to me too. Listen for the noise after you have just started the car, and then, start driving between about 10 and 20 mph. You should hear it.

I'm sure that is exactly what it is.

Does it happen only the once though? It should only happen once, during the first time you hit 11 mph (if i remember correctly) after starting the car. If it is only once, it's got to be the abs test cycle like the others thought.

Yes I realized it only starts once per start up cycle. I should have mentioned it before but I didn't really connect the dots on that one... I'm convinced its the ABS test cycle now. It's odd that it's so loud though. I'd like to have seen the salesman try to explain that to the first owner.
