So Joe made it? :fart
Back in the day, these cars ran low 15's to high 14's stock. I hit a 14.8 long long ago in Houston with a LOT of prep (new plugs, very little gas, etc.) Now she doesn't run so great, but that's due to lack of proper tires, lack of real prep and quite possibly my emissions problems (please see appropriate post and help, this is gonna effect all of us in IL!)
But to get them up to the 4000 weight with a little wiggle room, I at least needed me, my purse, a full tank of gas and Joe's sledgehammer. The thing is, I felt like I got a better start with the full tank of gas, but it definitely slowed it down. IIRC I was probably mid-15's, and that was with some minor modifications including a tune which made me fishtail a teensy bit on the 1-2 shift
. Bonus though is that they are extremely consistent and I was a 1/4 finalist who lost to the eventual winner in a slow truck.
Thanks for all the pics, I still want more! Made me remember the fun there! (and my first ride in Mike's white Grandpa car hee hee).
