Just wanna know if someone can tell me if and what the factory governor speed is. My 1996 LSC shuts down at 110mph and a guy that lives in the same town has a 1995 and he say his don't shut down say he has had his up to 135mph both pretty much stock

LSC is 110 ish and base cars are 130 ish.
(i say ish because the speedometer is not always accurate at those speeds)
the LSC has more gear so it limits at a lower speed.
the limiter is to prevent overspinning the driveshaft, or so i'm told.

some early 93 computers (W3Z2) are supposed to be unlimited. although my W3Z2 was limited to 130 as well.

Yes but remember the Engineers put the limiter there to keep the drive shaft in one piece (well two actually LOL) Plenty have had no issues with the limiter removed, so I hear, but just keep it in mind.

The LSC with the numerically higher gears spins the drive shaft faster at a lower MPH. The limiter is based purely on rotational speed of the drive shaft not MPH.

With "LOD" Since 1997
The LSC models were rated by Ford at 290 HP versus 280 HP for the base model, and have a 3.27 vs. 3.07 rear end gear. The speed limiting function of the powertrain module kicks in at what many people think is 124 mph, versus 130 mph on the Base model. This is probably due to a function to keep the driveshaft below a certain rotational speed.

Once a tune removes the speed limiter, your tachometer (or driveshaft) is the limit. When I had the 4.10 gears with tune, I went 130mph in 3rd gear and buried the 140 for a mile or more in 4th probably at about 155 mph. That is with a 4" Dynotech driveshaft though and I will never do it again. Way too scary. I was on the brakes WAY ahead of time when I finally came upon 70 mph traffic like it was standing still. Yeah, no thanks but I did find out the car will go horrifyingly fast with 4.10s and tune. And it sounded like my car was re-entering the atmosphere.

Here was back in 2010. All the way to the end of 3rd with still a whole other gear left so you can imagine what it did the one day I left overdrive on. I sure as hell wasn't going to hold a camera at those speeds. LOL

Don't forget tire speed ratings at the time. A good tuner can turn the limiter off so you don't need a new chip.

There's a lot of advantages with a switch chip and being able to switch tunes on the fly. Particularly when paired with a chip burner and the PRP software from SCT.

My 1997 base tops out at just under the 140 139 to be exact. I will say its not a safe feeling like when i go a buck seventy five in my Corvette!
