Tranny cooler questions

Unless you are running a very high stall converter, the TruCool 40K is overkill. If you are overheating the trans on a stock converter, there is something else wrong there. Also, the thermal bypass you speak of is basically like a thermostat that gets the trans fluid up to temp quicker in cooler conditions. Hot fluid is just as bad on the trans as cold fluid that runs through like taffy. That's why those coolers come with that option. If this is not a daily driver and you live in a warmer climate, the thermal bypass option is completely unnecessary unless you do a lot of cold winter driving.

What converter do you have? Many times, a smaller stacked plate cooler from your local auto store is plenty sufficient. (think Hayden)

I want with the big daddy try cool cause I was driving it the other day and the tranny fluid got very hot so hot you couldn't touch it and the tranny defaulted to 2nd gear and when I stopped and let it cool down for a few hours I went to try it again and it was doing just fine

How were you driving it? Mine makes repeated booring 40 mile highway trips but except for the occasional on-ramp sprint it leads a pretty easy life.

And I was on the interstate when that happened and I think the radiator was my problem to start with and Kstromberg I plan on a lot more upgrades in the future it's not going to be a daily when I'm finely done with it
