Where do you buy your tires?

I'm tempted to buy online but like tixer said, after shipping and balancing you end up close to what you would pay locally. Unless you find a good deal online. I just checked out simpletire.com there are some good prices but never knew there were so many brands. I'm also browsing treaddepot.com, nice deals there too.

Looks like a lot of us go to the same places for tires!

Has anyone bought from tread depot? In particular, I'm eyeballing the Cooper RS3-A in 245/50 for 99 bucks a tire...

This thread is a little bit old, but I figured I'd add my 2 cents in. In the past, I've used Discount Tire and NTB for their occasional sales and when I've decided to upgrade the rims on any of my rides, I'll have The Tire Rack add a new set of tires to the deal. My 2001 Chrysler Sebring Convertible and my 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC have Tire Rack Yokohama tires on them. As for the warranty issues? You can take the tires to any "local installer" the Tire Rack has a deal with (like NTB and/or Discount Tire) and they will handle the warranty claim. My 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan has Cooper tires on it from NTB.

Haven't tried costco, I don't have a costco card, but if you go that route please report back your experience.

I recently bought tires and had Discount tires price match their eBay store.
At first he didn't want to, said it's not the same tire, etc, etc. I said I'll order from eBay and he put me on hold, said he has the same model at the warehouse and came within a couple dollars of the eBay price. Had them on a few days later.

I bought a set of Michelin X radial tires from Costco for the mini van, and was happy with the service and price.

I have been waiting since the beginning of the year for a Michelin tire sale, and just finally purchased a staggered set of Pilot Sport A/S3's for the Mercedes. The sale is still on too for those shopping for Michelins. :)

I used Tire Rack as the price benchmark, as they had the best price out there on the web. When the free Michelin $70 Mastercard card was finally offered on a set of 4 tires, I called my local Discount tire and got them to price match the Tire Rack price. I paid $1092.86 out the door, that also included road hazard replacement cost.

Tire size:

Front: 255/40ZR18


Rear: 285/35ZR18

Costco is not the cheapest for tires but they have life time balance, rotation and road hazarded, as well as free nitrogen fill. And at least the ones by me torque the lugs by hand to manufactures specs.

How not the cheapest are they? I'm willing to put up with a small premium. There's one right by school, so I could get the wheels checked / filled right before any trips to LA or Nor Cal.

when i compare them to a place like tire rack they are not the cheapest, even when i add in shipping and mounting and balancing from a local shop i can drop ship too. but if you add in the life time rotation, balancing and road hazarded it woks out nice. I guess it just matters if you want bottom line or the added services.
