Had to bite the bullet and took my 95 to the dealer for some gasket repairs. The valve cover gaskets were changed. Here's what came back. The first day they only had little white dots on them. The second day wow. What damage can happen if that crap is also on the inside? After the cleaning tank I don't think they were rinsed off. Is that crap corrosive? I'm going to the dealer this morning and their going to say that they'll clean it off. Having that crap inside my engine is going to shorten it's life. Any chemest out there to tell me what that residu is made of? I let you guys know what the dealer says. TONYyyy

Holy crap dude! I would be headed back there with a quickness and get that fixed and a refund. That is unacceptable.

Can't say I've ever seen anything remotely like that. Maybe it's a reaction to the paint on the outside and the inside is clean?

I have seen some cars with the plastic fill cap you tighten look just like that after years of service. It appears to happen after the motor is gunked or steam cleaned. My guess its a reaction to the solvents used i wouldn't worry about it too much!

clean and shiney

I went to the dealer this morning. When the engine was cold it was black and slimey. When it warmed up it turned white. The service mgr ass ured me it was not on the inside. I'll keep checking to oil. They cleaned and sprayed the engine. Looks better. They're going over the bill and I'll be hearing from them soon. They lost my neg battery post cover and I want it back. Had this car 14 years and its been to a dealer twice. Both times parts missing and more work for me. But we love our Lincolns

oil filler cap

I had to replace my oil filler cap because it was falling apart. I think the heat got to it. It's never seen gunk or a steam cleaner.

checks in the mail?

Dealer is sending a check for about $150. I'll wait untill the check clears and figure out next move.

Check in hand. Good for 90 days I'm going to hold on to it untill I'm sure all their screw ups are made right.
