Ok here's the deal. A guy posted that he has a set of zenetti rims for sale on the TCCOA board. I called him and we arrgeed on a price and I sent him a money order. That was about a month ago. I've talked to him once since then. He assures me that I will get the rims he just hasn't been able to send them out. I've called him numerous times at home and at work and have left messages, no return phone calls. What the heck can I do now? I live in MA and he lives in FL. I want my money or the rims, anyone have any suggestions. I'm not sure that he is screrwing me over but it's appearing that way. What can I do????

RE: I think I'm getting ripped off!!! HELP!

Contact the police and ask them what the next step is.

RE: I think I'm getting ripped off!!! HELP!

I would PRIVATELY complain to the TCCOA mods. They MAY be able to apply peer pressure if he is a long standing member.

I've had a bad experience on a MO purchase through a message board, luckily for a sum of money a lot less than a set of rims.

Personally, I stay away from newbies whose only post is an item for sale in the classifieds. Hopefully that's not the case.

Good Luck.

It's to late now but never purchase anything from anybody without an out...(ie) use a credit card or pay pal never ever send check or cash to an individual if they are not within driving range in other word if you cant see the merchandise with you eye's and to touch it.

Should I contact his local area police? (I think it would make sence) I also have a cousin that lives within 3 hours of this guy. I just might pay him a visit this spring if this is not straightened out. I also know where he works and have the phone number if that helps anything. I'm really hoping this guy is just really lazy about sending them and hasn't gotten my messages I've left. It's just low to steal somones money like this. I sent him about $690, it's not an insane amount but it's enough to hurt.

That depends on your level of sanity! That's enough to send me over the deep end!!

It's enough to break legs over. }>

Has he cashed the money order yet?? You can go to the place that made the money order and find out for sure...they may even have a fraud protection on the money order. If he hasn't cashed it, cancel the money order. If he has cashed it, I'd send him one more note telling him "rims, please, or it will be the police following up on this the next time"..

RE: I think I'm getting ripped off!!! HELP!

RRocket nailed it. If you persue it descreetly at first, you may get a better response. Inquire from the Money Order Issueant, and go from there. Yes, call HIS local authorities. You never know... he may live in a town of 500 populus, and his brother might be the police chief! if all else fails, screw the mr. Nice Guy routine... go for the knee caps. Make your prescense known on the TCCOA site, and spread the word. Hell, even make up a story about who you really are. Sometimes, fear is power... othertimes, they run away like a frightened kitten, never to be found again.

Remember, he can always close his name and account at the TCCOA site, and re-open one with a different name, and you will never know the difference, so step softly, but carry a big gun.

Whatdya say gang? Should we gather on a national level and head down to Florida on his behalf, just to kick some Losers can?

I hate rip offs.

If the money order has not been cashed then put a stop order on it. If the money order has been cashed email him that he has 24 hours to send you the tracking number of the shipment. Tell him that if you don't receive the tracking number you will notify the FBI Internet Fraud Division at http://www.ifccfbi.gov/index.asp This site WORKS! THIS WILL GET HIS ATTENTION FAST!

I've once filed a complaint there against someone in Oklahoma and about a month later I got a letter from the OK Attorney General's Office that they were looking into it. Sure enough a couple of months later I got my money back from the Attorney General's office as the guy was in prison for fraud and was working off his debts, he had duped others also.

where in MA? I have a lot of 'contacts' in and around Boston and Worcester and subsequently will be driving to FL in mid-January. I would do the legal thing first, stop the MO, call his local Cops, then we'll pay him a little visit. If he doesnt give in peacefully, then more agressive action needs to occur.

RE: I think I'm getting ripped off!!! HELP!

The same thing happened to me last year. It was a member from the other site who was from Texas. I never got my rims or my money back and I just haven't really done anything about it. I'm sure it's not too late. The thing was, I trusted him because I saw him on all the time and I talked to him on the phone and knew that he had been around for a while and was associated with a lot of people from the site. Anyway, it wasn't quite as much money, but was still quite a good chunk. It was a money order also. We were in touch for a while, then he just disappeared. I'm wondering if he re-registered with a different name. I still have the reciept for the money order as well as a fax from him stating his intentions. Maybe I'll e-mail him with a threat about that FBI thing and see if he gives my cash back. People are ridiculous. You cant trust anyone, then you make a mistake and feel like an idiot. I guess, you live and learn how not to be a sucker. Anyway, what am I gonna do, sue him or fly to TX and break his legs? Why is it just us MA people getting scammed? If anyone wants to know who it was from the other site, IM me.....maybe you could help.

RE: I think I'm getting ripped off!!! HELP!

Turn FLAMARK loose on him...he's a police officer and lives in FL, no?

RE: I think I'm getting ripped off!!! HELP!

Thanks for all the respones guys, he lives in Ormond Beach Florida. Anyone near there? I will be checking on the status of the money order today and stopping payment if it has not beed cashed. I will then send him a letter informing him that if I don't get them I will be informing the authorities and the fraud unit in the FBI that Leo posted. Thanks a lot for the suppourt, I'll keep you guys updated. If anyone wanted to contact me e-mail me at rommayo@aol.com

RE: I think I'm getting ripped off!!! HELP!

I also have all documentation proving that I bought them. I have usps tracking and proof of delivery (of the money order), the original ad on tccoa for the rims, and a copy of the money order. I know where he works and his work phone number.
