There will be extensive coverage of this auction on the speed channel. It's quite a show with excellent photography of beautiful cars. I watched it last year and found it informative and entertaining. They're having a contest with the winner getting $50K to spend at the auction.

RE: Barrett-Jackson Auction

I wish they had microphones under the stage where the cars roll on and off..would make it a perfect telecast..

RE: Barrett-Jackson Auction

I don't get speed channel in my area.
If any LS-6 Chevelles go up for auction please post the prices.
Thanx,
Matt

RE: Barrett-Jackson Auction

I watched most of last nights auction. The guy who won the $50,000 didn't find anything he wanted last night. They flew him and his wife in, put them up at a nice hotel, gave them a Mustang convertable for the weekend and when it's over he gets to drive back to Michigan in whatever he buys. Sweet! The following is a list of sales that I thought would interest some of you. The first night is usually of the least expensive cars.

*70 Chevelle SS396/auto, red/blk/blk vinyl top, $20K

*69 Olds 442 W-32 convertable, 400/auto, blue/white/white, $64K

*97 Viper Hennesey Venom Coupe, 600 hp, blue/black, 1,500 mi, $59K

*58 T-bird convertable, silver/white/blk top, $18.5K

*63 Corvette coupe, 327/300 hp/auto, red, $34K

*60 Corvette, 327/4-spd/2-4bbls, red/blk, removable hard top, $27.5K

Typically both buyers and sellers pay Barrett-Jackson 8% of the sale price. The commision is less if the sale is over $100K and is dropped if the sale is over $400K.

RE: Barrett-Jackson Auction

I flipped over the 1958 T-Bird Roadster in SILVER
The 1956 Ford Sunliner in white & Mandarin Orange with Genuine original Wire Wheels and
the 4.4.2. W-32 1969 Convert.

The others were fine, but the above 3 lit my fuse.

RE: Barrett-Jackson Auction

watching it right now. Also watched it last night. There is a camaro with a L89 option that just went for 69K

RE: Barrett-Jackson Auction

Last night (Friday) I saw three Lincolns sell.

*41 Lincoln Zephyr 3-window coupe, blk/tan, $46K

*57 Lincoln Mark II, white/white, $35K

*72 Lincoln Mark IV, white/white, owned by Elvis, $30K

It was a good night for Chevy convertables.

*56 Chevy Belair convertable, 265/auto/2-4 bbls, two tone blue interior & exterior with matching light blue top, $103K

*57 Chevy Belair convertable, 283/auto/2-4 bbls, red/red/blk top, $94K

*58 Chevy Impalla convertable, 283/3-speed/fuelie, blk/blk/blk top, $104K

*64 Chevy impala convertable, 409/4-speed, blk/blk/blk, $52K

I saw one Chevelle sell. It was a COPO (Corporate Office Production Order) car which means it was ordered for a major dealer and approved by the head office.

*69 Chevelle Malabu, 427 L-72/auto, orange/blk, bench seats, auto on the column, $71K

What is the L-72 engine option? Is it the iron block with aluminum heads or the aluminum block & heads? What's the L-89 option?

RE: Barrett-Jackson Auction

Wow, a 1990 ascMcLaren Roadster AzurA Blue Pearl was just on. IT had 11,000 miles. It went for $4,750. It look perfect. :)

RE: Barrett-Jackson Auction

Ha Ha Ha
They only made one, and last I looked it was in MY crotch, with 2,033 miles on it - they musta driven it out there! Nice Try, here's your quarter back - try again!

RE: Barrett-Jackson Auction

Yea but one guy just spent about 700 grand on 4 Callaway vettes!

That lincoln was sweet though. I'd love to own that car.

RE: Barrett-Jackson Auction

That auction was in Scottsdale, Arizona. They're having one in Palm Beach, Fl. in March. I'm thinking of going to that one.

RE: Barrett-Jackson Auction

Hey Steve, I watched the entire first night - Thursday - I never saw that McLaren go on. Did you? People on my ascMcLaren board said they saw it. I think different areas of the country got to see different cars!! They said that is had obvious sheet metal work, but the owner claimed it was just paint after a deep scratch. Said it brought $14,600. What you know 'bout any of this??

Also, what happened to Thunderbird/Cougar Club of America?
http://www.tccoa.com

Seems to have been shut down, no ????

RE: Barrett-Jackson Auction

TCCoA is working now. They host my images and when I tried earlier to upload pictures of the '38 Lincoln Zephyr Street Rod that was auctioned for $400,000 I couldn't. Since then I was able to.

I love this street rod because unlike almost every other street rod today, they chose to use the original (but modified) engine and not a Chevy 350 like most all the others. That's the 277 cubic inch V12 flathead that originally came in that car.
