Shelby Expedition

RE: Shelby Expedition

Just to get my voice in here....

My vette is worth more than the houses you live in. That is all, have a nice night. :D

RE: Shelby Expedition

My vette vs. the cayenne.. whos taking bets?

this first off should be compared to a Z06, and second off... ive never seen a cayenne TT yet, nor has one come up in my mirriors at pocono raceway. And if it did id be pretty scared cause i run in the outlaw class. 600hp limit, with 10 or more suspension Mods. When i see a cayenne Ill let you guys know..

hey jay... LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Shelby Expedition

Guys I have driven both a 2004 vette and a cayenne TT. my fathers partners owns them. I feel i can safely say that the cayenne would more than hold its own with a vette.

I love vettes, but lets face it, there are now SUV's out there that can hang with them. Yeah maybe on a super twisty course the vette would come out on top, but lets give the cayenne some credit here.

My wifes Escape can hang with my mark on most of the back roads here. SUV's have come along way. You may have to spend more to get vette results from a SUV, but lets not forget you can also carry more people and gear in the SUV while having fun on the back roads.

RE: Shelby Expedition

You guys can keep your SUV's and Vettes. I will take this 1995 grocery getter minivan and own all of ya... hahaha lol. Say: who's your daddy!

RE: Shelby Expedition

Finally!!! John...thank you. I was simply trying to point out the performance of the Cayenne...and these "bow-tie babies" got their feather's ruffled.

Dont worry boys...you can keep your vette's(I guess they are RIGHT what they say about vette owners)

RE: Shelby Expedition

LOL, not really, but everytime some car beats a "regular" c5, in some small insignificant course, everybody wants to be like YEA, the vette got its ass whoooped.
Untrue.

base cayenne vs base vette.

top o line vette vs. top o line cayenne.

ThaTS a fair comparo.... not the low model vs the top model...

but those news makers, and porsche Pr sticklers want the headline...

And thats that.

I have No worrys... Except for engine i have 95% of the corvette C5-R racing suspension parts, and 600 na hp too. So when i see a cayenne tailing me.. ill let you guys know.

Id also love to see the skidpath numbers from both.

RE: Shelby Expedition

Well i got the numbers....

Porsche

13.79 @ 102.47 1/4
0-60 5.4
60-0 112ft
SKIDPATH 0.85g
SLALOM - 65.9 mph...

Not impressive from where im sitting. Nor vette beating material either.

2003 Zo6

12.44 @ 116.54
0-60 4.29
60-0 105ft
skidpath 1.02g
Slalom 70.4

Yea... id love to see those two cars with EQUAL drivers on ANY track.

RE: Shelby Expedition

I can find numbers showing the Cayenne at 0-60 in 5.0sec and doing the 1/4 in 13.5@104mph.

There will be varing numbers on both cars no matter where you look. Point is people it's time to admit there are now top of the SUV's out there that can run with the beloved vette. The comparison doesn't need to be top vs. top.

Compare a base vette and a cayenne and you'll see the numbers are fasirly close. Vette still would win on paper, but paper is paper not real world.

Lets not brag about your car to much there Pete. There are many cars I would put up against you and win with. Look at the Hennessy Viper for an example. They make a Viper with a high 2sec to low 3sec 0-60 time.

I really don't see Petey bragging about his car anywhere here in this thread. He's stated the obvious with his car in saying that it is not even remotely close to being in the same class as a Cayanne.
I just wonder how you went from comparing a Cayanne to a 'Vette to now comparing a Hennessey Viper to Petey's 'Vette.

I think someone is a little jealous.

RE: Shelby Expedition

Check this out, 1992 the GMC Syclone pick up truck did 0-60 5.3 sec and the 1/4 mile 14.08. A 1992 968 Porsche Cabriolet 0-60 in 5.9 sec and the 1/4 mile in 14.40

Point is people it's time to admit that there was an entry level pick up truck out there that can run with the beloved Porsche. All for $10k less. The Americans are just light years a head of the Germans. Well, maybe except for the air suspension in the Cayenne. But then again most Mark VIII owners have an air suspension as well. Unless you went backwards and replaced it with old fashion coil springs.

RE: Shelby Expedition

John. not to brust your bubble... My corvette would murder any hennesy viper on the road right now. Im at 9.21 @ 149.76 in the 1/4. With plenty of nitrous left to go futher. Oh and.

And i have a 1.32 60 foot. thats 0 to 60 in roughly 1.86 seconds

here viper viper viper, here viper viper viper.

RE: Shelby Expedition

anyone know what the curb weight of the cayenne is? Oh, and while you're at it...how much does a vette weigh?

oh yea...and the GMC Syclone/Typhoon thing

I forgot about those...where are they?....oh yea...THEY BLEW UP!!!

point is- I wasnt trying to do a "apple to apple" comparison folks.

I was using a BASE(are ya happy) Corvette as an EXAMPLE of what kind of car the Cayenne was capable of "keeping up with...thats all. You have to admit, thats pretty damn impressive for a fully loaded, heavily optioned SUV. (and the "go backwards and install coil springs comment can kiss my donkey) Comparing the Porsche air ride to a Mark VIII's air ride is a farce. (Furthermore, installing coil springs on a mark VIII has NOTHING to do with this discussion-any moron knows that!) had the article mentioned a "Dodge Carger R/T" than thats what I would have mentioned.

ATTENTION CORVETTE OWNERS!!! If you are interested in finding a SUV that can run cirlces around other SUV's, and feels pretty quick , LIKE YOUR OH-SO-SACRED vette, you should go see about the Porsche Cayenne. But dont worry...it isnt NEEEEEEEEAAAARR the quality of car as your beloved Corvette.
(just had to let them re-align their feathers folks...dont worry).

now, can we move on?

RE: Shelby Expedition

Pete/Steve I just sent the payment for my new baby. I got this car because it is the total package. I will not drive her but a couple thousand miles a year so comfort has taken back seat. She does not have ABS, but has 8 piston 15" front brakes...

I think it is realatively safe to say that it will roll everyones ass on ANY road course on this forum as well as the standing 1.2mile.
However Pete I will have to do a pully change to get down in your 1/4 mile ET/mph realm. Props on the 9.21 @ 149!!

RE: Shelby Expedition

John Hennessey's personal Viper did run an 8.96 @ 155 earlier this year I believe. There have been two guys that I know of for sure that ran 9's n/a with a viper this year as well.

Are vettes the best car in the world? no

Are Vipers the best cars in the world? no

Are TTcheyanes the best cars in the world? no

Will everyone keep talking about it? yes

RE: Shelby Expedition

there are go... nobodys car is the best in the world.

but i might have to put my C5-r suspension to work againest your car there joe )

btw beautiful car.

RE: Shelby Expedition

About time you got the Vipper Joe, been talking about it for a while now. The blue is much nicer than that yellow one you looked at. When does it get to your house?
